Summary

A solid episode buoyed by a surprising ending.

We recap the 2023 Netflix K-Drama series King the Land Season 1 Episode 14, which contains significant spoilers.

With a genuinely surprising ending, King the Land episode 14 heightened expectations going into its final week. Hwa-ran (Kim Seon-young) seems ready to burst, Gu Won (Lee Jun-ho) obviously wants to find his way back to Sa-rang (Im Yoon-ah), and, perhaps most importantly, the rich heir’s mother will now play a factor too.

King the Land Season 1 Episode 14 Recap

How does the media expose Sa-rang and Gu Won’s relationship?

As the media pick up on Gu Won’s “love affair” with an “ordinary woman,” it causes a stir, but the rich heir instructs Sang-sik to make certain Sa-rang is shielded from having her identity revealed. Of course, Hwa-ran is behind this scheme, and that’s a fact relayed to the Head Manager by his assistant (who confirms he will remain loyal).

With more articles spreading, Sa-rang’s identity is ultimately exposed in the scandal. This means rumours spread at work, too, but Gu Won is happy to clarify he liked his partner first.

The couple are still going strong too, and clearly feel protected by each other.

Even though Chairman Gu tells his aid to “let them be” in regard to Sa-rang and Gu Won, he still wants articles taken down that mention his son’s mother, and wishes for journalists to be made aware he won’t just accept what they’ve written.

Concurrently, Pyeong-hwa has her divorce exposed in front of her colleagues by Mi-na, because the pursuer is jealous Ro-un doesn’t reciprocate her romantic feelings.

What makes Hwa-ran and her father clash?

While King the Land employees vow to help Sa-rang, Chairman Gu interrupts Hwa-ran’s private meeting about having the board oppose Gu Won’s ascension. Here, the family members argue to the point Il-hun instructs his daughter to “give up” her positions and then hears he allegedly “never cared” about his daughter.

After a flashback shows Hwa-ran was somewhat ignored in favor of her younger sibling, we move forward to see Gu Won win over Sa-rang’s grandmother further.

That, and the rich heir becomes a sensation with the other elders, who all fuss over him.

What happens with Sa-rang at King Tourist Hotel?

As Da-eul punishes her husband by making him clean and cook going forward (she’s supported by his parents too), Gu Won is encouraged to do well when it comes to King Hotel becoming a global chain. Then, the next day, Il-hun eats with Sa-rang, and orders her to go somewhere “far away” for the time being.

Following their private amusement park date, Gu Won departs for his business trip, and Sa-rang is sent to the remote King Tourist Hotel.

It’s dubbed an “infamous place of exile,” and it certainly looks anything but fancy, yet the concierge is at least greeted with familiarity on her arrival.

Continuing, Sa-rang makes her time working at King Tourist Hotel go well, ensuring she never stays bogged down despite the massive difference in working environments.

Gu Won, on the other hand, arrives back in Seoul to find himself dismayed at the news his partner has reappointed and sternly gets the information of her whereabouts from Ha-na.

Finishing off, the episode has a shocking end, as Gu Won is greeted in the hallway by none other than his mother.
