Summary

A decent episode throws one last twist into the mix.

We recap the 2023 Netflix K-Drama series King the Land Season 1 Episode 15, which contains significant spoilers.

Although you can debate that the twist at the end of this episode wasn’t necessary, it certainly builds some anticipation for the finale. Of course, the hope is that there’ll be a happy ending, but the element of doubt is enough to give reason to tune in.

King the Land Season 1 Episode 15 Recap

What happens to Gu Won’s mother?

As Gu Won’s mother tells Il-hun to let their son live his life as he sees fit, we move forward to where the rich heir is faced with his estranged parent. There, he backs away initially before sitting down to talk.

Understanding his tearful mother’s reason for leaving him and encouraging her to live “for yourself,” Gu Won doesn’t entirely accept. However, he certainly acknowledges the apology he receives from his estranged parent.

Following that, the wealthy heir excuses himself, breaks down, recomposes, and returns to the room for an emotional embrace.

How does Sa-rang’s time with King Tourist Hotel end?

The next day, Sa-rang becomes invested in saving King Tourist Hotel after hearing how important its existence is to the exiled workers. Yet she cannot exactly do much, given she is hushed by her manager (who wishes to sell the building) and then made to prepare for a reappointment back to King the Land by none other than Gu Won.

That night, Gu Won and Sa-rang catch up. They first discuss the rich heir meeting his mother and realizing he’d never forgotten her.

Then, Sa-rang attempts to convince her partner she genuinely does like King Tourist Hotel, partly because it evokes memories of her concierge beginnings.

When Pyeong-hwa finally stands up to her smarmy ex-husband, Ro-un takes the flight attendant to a secluded area. There, he properly confesses his feelings and finds them reciprocated, with the pair embracing their budding romance with a kiss.

Due to his want to protect employees, as well as his newfound liking for the surrounding area, Gu Won decides he’ll buy King Tourist Hotel. “I want to create my own story,” he says of this, hoping he can inform others he was able to shield everything he wanted to.

Shortly after, Sa-rang chooses between Seoul and the tourist hotel.

How is Hwa-ran treated by her husband?

As Sa-rang returns to King the Land, so too does Gu Won, only now he is the hotel president. That, and Il-hun is now prepared to let his son do as he pleases so long as he can deal with any consequences.

Next, Hwa-ran, who still wishes to “fight” Gu Won for inheritance, is slapped by her husband. This comes because her partner is enraged by his wife’s use of money to break up his affair, with the business mogul swiftly told she’s just a “poor soul hungry for love.”

While Hwa-ran is comforted by her young son, who tells her he will go back to America, Da-eul takes a stand.

Tired of Ra-hee’s sleaziness, Alanga’s manager ensures the team will no longer be bugged to reach increasingly lofty sales goals by exposing their higher-up’s misconduct.

King the Land Season 1 Episode 15 Ending Explained

During a fancy dinner date, Gu Won anxiously prepares to propose to Sa-rang, waiting for drones to commence the moment. But a spanner is thrown in the works, as before anything starts, the Sa-rang tells the rich heir she wants to “call it quits.”

To end the episode, Sa-rang stares at a heartbroken Gu Won, a heart of drones flanking them.

I don’t understand why she broke up with her boyfriend Won. It came out of nowhere. I even watched it again thinking i had missed something. Please explain it to me.

Sa rang, calling it quits came out of nowhere. I did not like it.. I also did not understand how she presented it so nonchalantly. There is a lot of ground to cover in that one hour and 10 minutes or so that’s left. It must have something to do with grandma or there is some threat or ultimatum that’s been given to sarong otherwise, it just doesn’t make sense, the only other thing would be that it has something to do with Yuri and the arranged marriage between her and Won. Saran should at least look out of the restaurant window and see the heart and have some reaction because obviously Juan is looking at her, but based on her normal demeanor, she should be looking anywhere except at him and she should also have some idea since he keeps checking his phone and why are his hands under the table? She’s not a dummy so she should have a clue.

If you watch, Won never really asks what it is that will make Sa-Rang happy and what she wants her future to be. She has basically lost everything she worked so hard for and yet he thinks if she is by his side she will be fulfilled. The way this show has been going I’m sure the issue will be addressed in the finale, at least I certainly hope so.

There are hints at why she ended the relationship. Won was asserting dominance over her, saying she belonged to him, and it’s pretty obvious that she wanted to stay at the tourist hotel and make it successful now that King Hotel had bought it.

My guess is that In Episode 16 Won will see the error of his ways, they will come to a compromise and she will marry him.

spoiler*. She didn’t break up with him. (He misunderstood her.) You have to listen carefully to what she said. She’s calling it quits… At her job.. When
she came back to King the Land the father walked past her coldly in the hall and she realized then she couldn’t deal with that anymore.
That was a fantastic episode..The acting was superb!!!

Same crap Korean drama like the last Netflix series. Good music, lures you in then a stupid nonsense ending. Don’t bother watching.

I couldn’t believe it, but I had a feeling when I saw her with her grandmother. If this ends like this I’ll be so mad ! He’s been so so protective and caring and sweet and has proven her that she can count on him but I can’t believe this will be the end so I am very hopeful that his sister had something to do with it and that he will find the way to fix it or Sa rang will come back to her senses… not fair, not fun, not good. Also she’s not like that ?

She said she is calling it quits. Could mean 2 things. Quit her job or break up. Obviously they left us hanging but I took it as quit her job. Their relationship is fine. Typical k drama ending to an episode to keep u in suspense.
