The timeline for the movie Hidden Strike has been a long one, but the film has finally dropped, and at face value, the premise and cast make it a surefire hit.
Jackie Chan and John Cena are just the kind of double act that I can imagine would have executives thinking about a long-running franchise, and the characters also lend themselves to more adventures.
Chan is a former Chinese Special Operations agent who has left his organization and went solo, doing security work for whoever hires him. Meanwhile, Cena is a former Marine whom Chan is forced to work with in order to escort a group of civilians to safety through the notorious Highway of Death.

Hidden Strike sequel potential release date
It is very difficult to project a release date for a sequel as, at the time of writing, there is no indication that a sequel has been green-lit. There are also many factors that would delay another outing for this great double act, including scheduling issues for the actors involved.
John Cena’s star is rising, and he is committed to various other ongoing projects, including Peacemaker and whatever else James Gunn might have in store for that character in the new line of DC films that are in production.
The writers and actors strike that is still ongoing as I write this will have a devastating effect on any new projects that are being looked at just now too. It seems that if you take into consideration how long even making another film would take, it could be years before it would hit our screens if greenlit at all.
Hidden Strike 2 sequel cast – who might be in it?
The big draw of this movie is the team-up between Jackie Chan and John Cena, and there is no way that the companies involved in the film would want anyone else to reprise these roles, so in order for a sequel to stand any chance, it would be imperative that Chan and Cena were back on board for another outing.
Hidden Strike sequel plot: What could Hidden Strike 2 be about?
If there is another outing, I would like to see the focus being on the two leads and their characters and backstories being fleshed out. One possible story that might be interesting could focus on Jackie Chan’s past while working as a special operative.
Who knows what he has done in his previous capacity, so there is plenty of scope for his character to be targeted in a revenge scheme orchestrated by some criminal mastermind that he has previously imprisoned.
Of course, there could also be some back story behind the organization that he worked for, and perhaps there is a deeper reason why he left, perhaps leading to some shady dealings within that group, and their activities, that would lead Chan to either try to bring them down or expose their actions.
Similar premises could also be applied to John Cena’s character too, in his role as an ex-Marine. I have no doubt that there are many different ways that these two roles could be expanded and explored.
