The story of Charlie and Nick continues in Heartstopper Season 2. With the pressure of school weighing on them, Charlie’s parents tell him he isn’t allowed to see Nick until he is caught up on his work, while Nick’s brother being in town leads to an uproar.
Heartstopper Season 2 Episode 2 Recap
Charlie, Tao, Nick, Isaac, and Ben’s parents sit down with the teachers to discuss their class performances. However, Charlie’s teacher mentions that he has been entirely distracted as of late with being late to class and assignments being incomplete. On his way home, his mother explains they understand he has a new boyfriend but needs to get focused on school. She bans Nick from the house until his coursework is complete.
With prom on the horizon, Elle’s friends are pushing her to keep trying to go after Tao. In class, Nick gets a surprise visit from Charlie to “give him his pen back”. It leads to Ben and Nick getting into it, where Ben calls Nick out for not wanting to come out, which Nick refutes.
How does Nick’s brother react to his sexuality?
Earlier in the episode, we saw David take Nick’s phone and saw that he got heart emojis from Charlie. David wanted to know who Charlie was and if it was a girl. Now, David walks into Nick’s bedroom, where he sees Charlie and asks his name. This is when David figures out that it is him messaging his brother.
After Nick returned to the room, David mentioned saying he wanted to meet the guy who turned his brother gay. It leads to a yelling match between David and Nick.
Elle heads off to explore the campus at the Lambert School of Art. While somewhat uncomfortable, she becomes quick friends with Feliz and Naomi. As she is having fun, Tao is back home looking at her pictures on social media and sulking a little that she might be moving far away.
Why does Charlie get grounded?
After the emotional roller coaster at Nick’s, Charlie returns home, and his parents await him. His mother asks where he has been, and he admits to being at Nicks’s. In return, Charlie’s mother grounds him for the rest of the semester and warns him not to sneak out, or he won’t get to go to Paris.
Heartstopper Season 2 Episode 2 Ending Explained
After Elle spurned him again because of his indecisiveness, Tao sits in bed, scrolling through her social media, when his mom enters the room. She explains that if he likes Elle and is afraid to lose her, he must fight to stay by her side. So the following day, he heads to talk to Charlie to tell him that he likes Elle, and he wants his help to tell her.
