Summary

“Covenants and Stipulations” features some of Manuel Garcia-Rulfo’s best work as Mickey to date. This chess match in the courtroom has only ramped up the stakes with two episodes left.

This recap of the Netflix series The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 Episode 8, “Covenants and Stipulations,” contains spoilers.

The trial of Lisa Trammel continues on The Lincoln Lawyer. Although the DA continues to make Lisa look guilty, Mickey continues to strike back in ways to make their case look bad. However, things go south when a surprise witness gets called to the stand.

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 Episode 8 Recap

As Mickey is trying to process Andrea having the hammer, Lisa swears that she didn’t know about it. He explains that now that the DA has the weapon, that might be the only smoking gun that remains. Lisa mentioned testifying, but he said it was a bad idea. Cisco is waiting for some papers to help his case, but Mickey wants more witnesses, including the ex-husband.

Andrea puts Mr. Beltran on the stand, the landscaper who found the hammer. He tells her that he found the hammer, and once he did, he didn’t touch it because it looked as if it got blood on it. However, in his cross-examination, Mickey picks him apart because he never saw the hammer in the months before doing the job at this location.

What stunt does Mickey pull in the courtroom?

Two separate times while Detective O’Brien was on the stand, Mickey took the steam out of the DA’s case by saying the hammer was the same one missing from Lisa’s set and the blood on the hammer matched the victim in question. While Andrea pulled Mickey up to the judge, he explained that he was trying to move things along and that they were proving his client was framed.

Jeff Trammel finally arrives, but not in the capacity that Mickey hoped. Jeff wants a piece of the pie, and in return, on the stand, he will say whatever Mickey wants to clear Lisa’s name.

In the courtroom, Andrea’s case continues to fail to bring anything fruitful to the table with Mickey picking apart each of the witnesses she has brought in to testify. However, instead of passing the case to the defense, Andrea asks for one more day to potentially bring another witness to the stand.

Who does the District Attorney call to the stand?

Although Mickey thought that Andrea was going to call Lisa Trammel’s husband to the stand, Andrea announces that they are calling Henry Dahl to the witness stand. Mickey attempts to get a continuance or put a stop to this, but the judge sides with the DA.

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 Episode 8 Ending Explained

District Attorney Andrea hits a homerun with Henry Dahl’s testimony where we hear Lisa Trammel on a podcast rambling about knowing every vital detail of Mitchell Bondurant’s life. Mickey takes a small recess where Lorna argues that the next move he makes is a massive risk, and he says he is a changed lawyer and knows what he is doing. The episode ends with him standing up and announcing that the defense’s first witness will be Lisa Trammel.
