Summary
The Summer I Turned Pretty manages to drop the cliches and the cringe for a bit of a while to explore some genuine, raw human emotion and a frank depiction of grief. As always, the series can’t help but throw in a few pointless montage sequences, promoting forced fun, near the end to fill the lengthy running time though.
We recap the Prime Video series The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Episode 7, “Love Affair,” which contains spoilers.
It’s the morning after the teens’ big blowout house party, and the adults are here to pick up the pieces. “Love Affair” focuses on Laurel’s (Jackie Chung) attempts to convince Aunt Julia (Kyra Sedgwick) to take the beach house off the market.
Meanwhile, the teens tidy up, and Belly (Lola Tung) reconsiders which brother she loves the most.
The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Episode 7 Recap
The penultimate episode opens with Belly waking in the beach house. Her mother Laurel was worried sick by Belly’s late-night drunken call and has raced all the way over to Cousins to aid her daughter. Although Laurel was not expecting to find the house in such a state.
Laurel immediately argues with Belly, hurt that her daughter would lie to her for so long.
Belly defends herself, stating that the brothers needed her help. She brings up her mom’s anger toward her. Laurel says that the incident at Susannah’s funeral was selfish, and Belly embarrassed her.
Why does Laurel slap Belly?
Belly refuses to leave the beach house, upset that her own mother won’t help them out. She says that Susannah would never forgive Laurel for abandoning her sons. These words cut deep and Laurel retaliates by slapping her daughter across the face.
Outside, Jeremiah comforts Belly after this altercation. They discuss last night. Belly admits that she and Conrad are over.
Yet Jeremiah knows deep down that these two will always have some connection. Belly thinks it’s time they all just went home.
Back in the house, Steven confronts his mother, asking why she didn’t help them save the beach house. Laurel thought that Susannah and Julia had come to an agreement; she didn’t know the house was up for sale. Steven is hurt that Laurel didn’t tell them about the situation, to begin with.
Laurel apologizes to Belly and opens up about her grief a little more. They forgive one another and hug it out. Laurel then apologizes to the other teens and offers to speak with Aunt Julia.
She wants to save the house as well. The kids then clean up while the adults talk.
Does Laurel save the beach house?
Laurel tells Julia how important the house is to the teens. Julia admits that she never felt like she was part of the family or that she belonged at the beach house, either. Laurel apologizes for creating this friction. Julia discusses her relationship with Susannah and her regrets in those final months. After this heart-to-heart, Julia decides to take the summer house off the market. The teens all celebrate. Now they just need to convince Jeremiah and Conrad’s dad to buy the place.
After this good news, Belly and Conrad have their own private chat. Conrad apologizes for the way he handled their relationship. Belly says that she doesn’t regret their time together.
They both agree that they hurt one another, but they don’t want to do that again. They agree to be friends instead.
The brothers’ father, Adam Fisher, drives over to discuss the sale. Laurel and Adam end up arguing, though, and the teens rush in to defend her.
Adam admits that the place reminds him of Susannah; it’s just too painful to keep.
Laurel begs Adam to do this one last favor for Susannah. Adam relents and agrees to buy the beach house. But it means selling the family home in Boston instead.
Surprisingly, there is no big celebration after Adam’s agreement.
The brothers have their own heart-to-heart about Belly and college. Conrad confesses to getting into Stanford and that he is just friends with Belly now.
They agree not to fight anymore and promise to be more open with each other in the future.
Does Conrad accept his Stanford offer?
Jeremiah convinces Conrad to accept the offer from Stanford. Conrad worries that he’ll fail his final exam, though. The teens all decide to help Conrad with an all-night study session. The next day they all say their goodbyes. The friends agree to meet up again for the Fourth of July.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Episode 7 Ending Explaind
There’s just time for one final goodbye photo and one last swim in the pool, fully clothed, of course. The trio then drives to Brown for Conrad’s exam. While they wait, Jeremiah takes Belly on a tour of Finch, a college they both want to attend.
On the tour, Belly realizes that she wants to pursue volleyball again. She vows to try out for the team once more. Belly asks Jeremiah if he will ever give her a second chance. Jeremiah is scared of getting hurt again, though. Belly promises that things will be different this time around.
The episode ends with Belly and Jeremiah passionately kissing one another. Of course, Conrad walks over, just in time to witness this lavish display.
