Summary

This recap of the Paramount+ series Special Ops: Lioness Season 1 Episode 5, “Truth is the Shrewdest Lie,” contains spoilers.

Joe and Kyle must deal with the consequences of the mission that Joe sent her team on in this episode of Special Ops: Lioness. As that happens, Joe reunites with her daughter after her accident to break some bad news.

The episode begins with Cruz waking up and struggling to get herself back together due to being drugged. She asked one of the Marines how far the man got with her (asking if he raped her), and he assured her they made it in time to stop anything from happening.

The doctor says that the surgery went well, but her recovery is going to take a while due to the extent of the injury. He pulls Joe and Neil aside to say that her body is rejecting the pregnancy, and Joe says they will have to decide when she awakens. She asks the doctor to be in the room when she awakens, and Kaitlyn advises that she is running out of time.

How does Kate react to the news she lost the baby?

Joe sits down with Kate to talk about how sorry she is that she hasn’t been there for her. The two share an emotional moment about Kate not hating her mother but that she misses her. Joe tells her she knows (about the pregnancy), and Kate says she doesn’t know what to do. Joe informs her that God took care of it for her, and Kate tells her she’s relieved, as she wasn’t ready to be a mother.

Byron and Kaitlyn sit with Joe and Kyle to discuss what happened. Byron explains that Kyle is lucky that his intel was good, and Joe’s team is on standby in San Antonio, but Kyle will be running lead. If the mission fails, they’ll likely end up in jail or dead. When they leave, Kaitlyn accompanies Joe to San Antonio because of how much trouble she is in. Upon arriving, they have to relegate to a new plan after discovering the men in the house have explosives.

What happens on the mission in San Antonio?

Joe and her team, alongside Kyle and Cruz, head into the house and are able to take out each of the men. However, Cruz goes slightly off the rails, heads into another room, and kills another man. While Joe was pissed, the man she killed had his finger on the trigger of a suicide bomb attached to his chest. The mission was an overall success.

Special Ops: Lioness Season 1 Episode 5 Ending Explained

After going MIA for a couple of days, Cruz is on a mission to get back in the good graces of Aaliyah. The two talk about how things are going, and Aaliyah mentions that she needs to come back, but Cruz says she doesn’t like her friends and she said they aren’t there anymore. The episode ends with Neil watching the news about what went down in San Antonio when Joe walks in to see it but gets a call.
