Will their friendship survive, and more importantly, will they perfectly celebrate their rite of passage?

You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah Ending Explained

How does You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah end?

The film begins with Sunny‘s Stacy at her bat mitzvah when she shares a moment with a popular boy, and right as they’re about to kiss, we find out it was just a dream sequence, and she’s really just kissing her mirror. Then the planning of the bat mitzvah begins. The two besties help each other out with their right-of-passage parties.

The film ends with a not-so-cool bat mitzvah, then Stacy growing up and giving an inspirational monologue in the temple, but she can’t bear that her best friend isn’t there. After the ceremony, she runs to Lydia’s house, where the two have a serious, very adult conversation. Stacy begs Lydia to come to her bat mitzvah party, but Lydia closes the door in her face.

Lydia turns up to Stacy’s bat mitzvah, and it turns out it’s a surprise one for Lydia, and they all party all night long. The best friends engage in a slow dance together, showing that it should always be sisters before misters.

Who is the boy who comes between them?

The hottest boy in school, obviously — Andy Goldfarb, played by Dylan Hoffman, cute with curly hair and a confident personality. What else could a girl want? Stacy then sees her best friend kissing her ultimate crush, which causes a serious war between the two. It doesn’t stop at a kiss; Andy and Lydia begin dating, making Stacy miserable. The reality is she’s missing her friend, not the boy.

The tables turn when Andy dumps Lydia and then hits on Stacy — and they end up kissing in a temple, setting the Rabbi and Stacy’s dad on the warpath. In the end, neither of the girls ends up with Andy.

Does Stacy and Lydia’s friendship survive?

Their friendship is pulled apart due to a boy and Lydia becoming part of the popular girl group. Towards the end of the film, the girls make friends again before their bat mitzvahs. Stacy was in charge of the video for Lydia’s big day and forgot to change the video, leaving Lydia completely embarrassed at her bat mitzvah.

However, after heartfelt speeches, Stacy’s bat mitzvah is actually a surprise one for Lydia. This giant gesture warms the hearts of everyone, and the film ends with their friendship stronger than ever.

Which characters are played by a Sandler?

Comedy legend Adam Sandler takes a step back and plays the humble father in this film, leaving his daughters to take center stage. Sunny Sandler plays the lead, and Stacy and Sadie Sandler play older sister Sunny. Sandler’s real-life wife Jackie joins the family affair as Lydia’s mother, while the on-screen mother is played by Wicked (the hit musical) legend Idina Menzel.
