Destined with You Season 1 Episode 4 Recap
What happens to Sin-yu because of the love spell?
Picking up where we left off, Sin-yu proves he drank the love potion and rationalizes that his having a crush on Hong-jo is a way to explain his sudden kinder actions towards her. Thus, the lawyer wants the spell broken, whereas the civil servant wishes to see proof the “cure disease” spell worked as well first.
While Hong-jo reflects on how Jae-gyeong had candidly told her to “meet someone better than me,” he ponders how the civil servant had responded by branding him lonely.
Amidst all of this, it’s made clear that Jae-gyeong is keeping himself somewhat distant from his family.
The next day, Sin-yu puts Hong-jo in a spot of bother. Unannounced, he arrives at her team meeting to admit his guilt in the wrecking of the hanging baskets so the civil servant can avoid any potential harsh treatment over the incident.
Due to Sin-yu’s confession, Eun-young keeps Hong-jo’s colleagues behind, evidently wanting to talk about their behavior.
As Sin-yu continues to do things that would suggest he harbors romantic feelings for Hong-jo, the two decide he should drink plenty of water, hoping he can urinate the potion out.
Concurrently, Na-yeon hears her lawyer ex is ill and is requested to “stay by” him.
Continuing, Sin-yu soon concludes he is firmly under the love spell, meaning the potion cannot simply be urinated out. The lawyer also believes the “cure disease” spell worked too, given his hand is moving with greater ease.
While Hong-jo and Sin-yu continue to talk, we see Na-yeon has seen at least some of this.
What does Eun-wol say of the spell being broken?
After Sin-yu has more potential past-life revelations in his sleep (which seem to have included an appearance by a younger Hong-jo), we move forward. Here, Seo-goo finds himself critiqued by Eun-young, who outlines that he failed to get a promotion for more reasons than just Hong-jo’s report to the auditing team. Later, Seo-goo and Eun-young talk about how they view each other when it becomes evident the former had collected hate comments made against the divorcee for a potential (though unexplored) lawsuit.
That night, Sin-yu coincidentally protects Hong-jo from what she believes is someone following her and shows off how he sorted out the street lights in her alley.
Then, the pair travel to meet Eun-wol, wanting to see if there’s a way to break the spell.
However, no solution is offered to the lawyer, and Sin-yu is left worrying about whether he’ll genuinely end up loving Hong-jo. “You have no power in this. Everything is up to her,” Eun-wol subsequently states.
Where does Jae-gyeong move?
Conflicted, Hong-jo thinks about how it’s said a “disaster will befall” her should she reverse any spell. Elsewhere, Sin-yu tries to find out what the civil servant could be withholding from him over her conversation with Eun-wol.
As Sin-yu attempts to figure out a puzzle that will help him gain clarity on what Eun-wol told Hong-jo, the civil servant suddenly greets Jae-gyeong, who has moved into the first floor of her house.
Interestingly, Jae-gyeong seems relatively frustrated before he spots his colleague, telling someone he’ll be changing his phone number and that he’d given them a “final present.”
Destined with You Season 1 Episode 4 Ending Explained
The following day, Sin-yu confronts Hong-jo over both her appearances in his dreams and how to solve her puzzle, to no avail. So, the lawyer hops on a bus with the civil servant, accompanying her to the beach where he watches his crush commemorate her late father.
To end the episode, Sin-yu looks at Hong-jo and realizes he has figured out the puzzle. “Your destinies cannot be severed. Accept it.”
