Predators is a nature docuseries co-produced by Sky Nature and Netflix. The series was created by Vanessa Coates (Planet Earth Live), and each individual episode is narrated by Hollywood superstar Tom Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road).
The Predators documentary series consists of five episodes, exploring five key predators from the natural world. The show focuses on the cheetahs of the Serengeti, the polar bears of Canada’s Hudson Bay, the lions of Botswana, the pumas of Patagonia, and wild dogs in Zimbabwe.
The series concentrates on the ever-changing landscapes that these apex predators inhabit and the new challenges that they face each day of their lives as they fight for survival.
The show first aired on Sky back in December 2022, but it has since gone on to wow an entirely new audience over at Netflix. The streaming giants premiered this impressive wildlife series in September 2023.
Clearly, the two production companies behind this groundbreaking series feel like they are onto a winner here, with the exceptional cinematography and the inclusion of Tom Hardy’s dramatic voice-over work, but will the series be renewed for a second season?

There haven’t been any announcements yet from co-producers Sky or Netflix on whether Predators will be renewed for a second season. At this current time, the series hasn’t been renewed or canceled. We eagerly await any further information on the show’s pending renewal.
The series has been around for quite a while now, but it is brand-new to Netflix. I imagine the streaming service will wait to see how the show performs with viewership numbers before considering a renewal update.
It would be interesting to know how successful the show was on Sky compared to Netflix, but we are not privy to that information.
Predators (2023) was well received; it currently holds a score of 7.4/10 on IMDB, with positive reviews from the critics at the Daily Mail and the Guardian over on Rotten Tomatoes.
The show was praised for its immersive camerawork and impressive storytelling.
You would think that the documentary series would flourish during the writers’ and actors’ strikes, but this type of content can also be affected by these disputes.
Tom Hardy (Inception) would be unable to reprise his role as narrator until the actors’ strike has ended. Writers are also heavily involved in the documentary process, so a second season of Predators wouldn’t be starting production soon, even if the show was renewed in the short term.
Hopefully, the series will be renewed in the coming months. The show has enough positives to warrant a second season, and there are plenty more predators to explore out there in the natural world. As always, we will keep you posted on any updates on the pending renewal of Predators.
