Top Boy originally began as a humble, homegrown British crime drama on Channel 4 in the U.K., enjoying two short but beloved seasons before being unceremoniously canceled — presumably for good.
At some point, though, Drake, of all people, came to the rescue and was apparently instrumental in getting Top Boy Season 1 off the ground as a rebranded Netflix original series. The first two seasons were renamed Top Boy: Summerhouse, so-called after the London estate where the show’s protagonists, Dushane and Sully, are from and conduct most of their drug-dealing business.
Top Boy Season 2 was great, raising the stakes while lending the whole thing a more prestige big-budget sheen. The story went international without losing its strong focus on character and local issues, and the groundwork for an epic final outing.
That final outing has now been released, with Top Boy Season 3 being another high note in a string of successes for the show. But is that really the end? While the story of Sully and Dushane might be over, is there no potential to explore other stories in the same universe? Here’s everything we know.
Will there be a Season 4 of Top Boy on Netflix?
Renewed or canceled status: Canceled
It was been no secret that the third season of Top Boy — though it’s technically the fifth if you’re keeping count — would be the last. Netflix have used this fact extensively in their marketing for the season, and the content of the final few episodes certainly reflects the idea that we’re at the end of the road.
In the Top Boy Season 3 finale, both Dushane and Sully are killed — the former by Sully himself, and the latter by an unidentified gunman who, at this point, could have been working for basically anyone. And since Stefan managed to break the cycle of violence by not killing Sully himself, this also kind of closes off the potential of another story following his descent into the murkier side of London’s underworld.

Likewise, Jaq, Becks, and baby Jack ended up safe and together, Jaq thoroughly disillusioned with the lifestyle. Half of the Summerhouse crew are also dead, the Irish are dead, Lizzie and Lithe never reappeared, and the Moroccans were killed off-screen at the start of the season. There are basically no aspects of the show’s criminal element left alive for us to follow in subsequent seasons.
We could, of course, hang around in Summerhouse and spend some time with the locals, but that would be a very different show and definitely not what fans of this one would want. I think it’s safe to say that Top Boy has reached a logical conclusion here, and we’ve seen everything we’re going to see in the story.
With that in mind, despite the inevitable success of Top Boy Season 3 with critics and audiences, our official prediction is that Top Boy will remain canceled. We’ll update this page with any information that contradicts that should we get it.
