The Wheel of Time Season 2 Episode 4 Recap
The episode starts with Ishmael raising a terrifying blood-covered woman, potentially another forsaken, just like himself.
Back in Cairhien, Lady Anvaere starts her day with some unexpected news; her older sister is in town for the first time in decades. And it’s none other than Moiraine.
At the Foregate, Rand politely rejects Selene’s invitation to spend a week at her parent’s cabin while her inn is being rebuilt after the previous night’s fire. But soon relents.
Newly accepted Nynaeve still struggles to come to terms with what happened inside the arches.
A now bondless Lan is unsure of his next steps. But when Alanna tells him about Nynaeve going through the arches, he claims he’s not looking to become a warder for another Aes Sedai.
What does Moiraine want from Logain?
After rejecting her sister’s kind offer of tea and refreshments, Moiraine heads to the Cairhien Sanatorium. She wants Logain to teach Rand how to control his channeling. In exchange, Moiraine will give the false dragon the one thing he desires most in the world; a knife so that he can take his own life.
After hearing about a series of attacks on the Western Shore, Liandrin questions Leane Sharif’s inaction. Leanne, the Keeper of the Chronicles, is in charge of the White Tower while Amyrlin Seat Siuan is away.
What are Perrin’s mysterious abilities?
Perrin finds out more about his nature. According to Elyas, the two of them are Wolf Brothers. They have a psychic connection to the animals and can communicate with them through visions.
While Elyas has been keeping an eye on Perrin for quite some time, he hesitated to approach sooner because Wolf Brothers stay away from women who can channel.
Where are Mat and Min?
Mat and Min seem to have a whale of a time getting drunk at a tavern. But Mat’s the only drunk one while Min is bidding her time and waiting for instructions on where to take him next.
During the night, Min has a terrifying nightmare where she’s forced to work as a fortune teller. She then sees Ishmael, who instructs her to take Mat to Cairhien.
At the tower, Nynaeve opens up to Liandrin about the pain she’s been feeling since coming out of the arches. In turn, Liaindrin talks about her son, who she’s been hiding for 80 years.
How does Nynaeve learn about Perrin’s capture?
Liaindrin then gives Nynaeve the news of Perrin’s. It seems the Aes Sedai are getting reports about the attacks on the West but are refusing to send any help.
As Lan is still trying to come to terms with his break-up with Moiraine, Alanna finds the poem written in blood among his things. She looks over it and appears beyond concerned.
After hearing the news of Perrin and Loial’s capture, Nynaeve finds Egwene, and the two women decide to leave the tower and help their friends. Elayne follows them, and the three are intercepted by Liandrin, who apologizes before attacking them.
Where is Rand?
Moiraine is looking for Rand in the Foregate, but he’s up in the mountains enjoying some quality time with Selene.
After spending all day in Cairhien trying to locate Rand, Moiraine returns to her room to find Anvaere waiting for her. Anvaere proves she is just as cunning as her older sister and makes it clear to Moiraine that if she wants to find Rand, she’ll have to finally sit down with her sister and drink that cup of tea.
The Wheel of Time Season 2 Episode 4 Ending Explained
Rand and Selene wake up from their peaceful slumber to a Fade attacking them, forcing him to channel and destroy the creature.
At first, Selene seems terrified of Rand and his powers. But quickly concedes and tells him she’s willing to accept him as he is.
We then finally learn the contents of the mysterious poem. It’s a prophecy about the rise of the Forsaken Lanfear, also known as the Daughter of the Night.
Who is the Daughter of the Night?
It’s Selene. She’s been the Daughter of the Night all this time, and she’s about to reveal her true nature to Rand during sex. Luckily, Moiraine appears in the knick of time and slits Selene’s throat.
Still wearing love goggles, Rand isn’t immediately grateful about Moiraine murdering his girlfriend. But once Moiraine explains who Selene is, Rand follows her out.
The final scene is a close-up of Selene’s face. She’s not dead.
