Moving, despite its highly unconventional release cadence, has been a major hit for Disney+, with the K-Drama enjoying a massive audience week on week. Its final three episodes (18, 19, and 20) brought the Heroes-alike show to an earned close, with its superpowered heroes – two generations of them, in fact – battling North Korean spies, since those are never good for anyone.

The final trio of episodes picked up after Bong-seok and Hui-soo had been ambushed by a flying North Korean spy, Mi-hyun and Ju-won had been confronted by Kim Deok-yoon and his soldiers, looking for Il-hwan’s files on the gifted students, and Jae-man rushing to save Kang-hoon from another agent.

Moving Season 1 Ending Explained

In flashbacks, while Mi-hyun and Ju-won fight off the goons, we see Deok-yoon and Doo-sik operating in North Korea in the past. The latter disobeyed orders to enter the room of a bedridden North Korean president, and the former, while kept alive by the government, was pushed into trying to activate the gifts of hopeful soldiers by pushing them beyond their limits and often to their deaths.

When the NIS captured Doo-sik, with Mi-hyun and their son escaping, they set him up to be captured by Deok-yoon and his enhanced squad under the guise of a final mission.

In the present day, Mi-hyun is able to escape the gunfire, though takes cover while wounded and calling for Ju-won to save their children.

What is Bong-seok’s power?

The finale of Moving reveals that Bong-seok inherited his mother’s super hearing. While Beong-seok and Hui-soo are dealing with Jun-hwa, Bong-seok learns his mother is in trouble and jets off to save her. Hui-soo takes a bullet for Bong-seok but survives.

How does Jae-seok die?

North Korea’s secret superpowered weapon is Jae-seok, who was imprisoned in a North Korean concentration camp as a child because his father was a traitor.

Spending his life in the darkness caused Jae-seok to develop a devastating supersonic power.

During the battle at the school, Jae-seok creates a giant sonic boom that levels half the building. Jun-wo and Jae-man both survive, but while the latter is trying to help his son, Jun-wo looks up and gets shot in the eye.

Jae-seok dies after the blast.

How does Deok-yoon die?

Deok-yoon kills himself by falling off a roof after it’s revealed that he was always against the mission. Earlier, it was clear he was being guided by a functioning moral compass.

This occurs after Bong-seok arrives at the school to save his mother, Jun-wo survives by removing the damaged eye to heal quicker, and Hye-do slices off Jun-hwa’s hand after supercharging himself with a bus battery.

Deok-yoon’s final instruction is to tell Jun-hwa to flee to protect his family.

What happens to the main characters?

All of the main characters survive, and the kids graduate high school.

Of course, this is far from the end of their stories, so here’s a quick run-down of where everyone stands at the end of the season:

  • Jun-wo is in possession of the files from Il-hwan.
  • Kang-hoon is forced to become a recruit for the NIS to protect his father.
  • Hui-soo enrolls in college.
  • Jun-hwa returns to Korea and murders the general who intends to create a breeding program to turn children into enhanced soldiers.
  • Jun-hwa also frees Doo-sik, who has been a prisoner the whole time.
  • Doo-sik kills the NIS director and returns to reunite with his family.
  • Bong-seok has, fittingly, become a superhero.
