Who was Noah Kinney?
Noah Kinney was a twenty-year-old man who found himself tragically involved in a deal gone wrong. Many reports indicate that Noah was trying to buy marijuana at the time of the shooting.
He was found dead in his own car by the time authorities arrived.

A report in Cleveland.com reported that the fatal incident occurred on January 8, 2020. Noah Kinney was in Melvin Terry’s vehicle, and the car was parked in the driveway of a home in the 700 block of Noah Street in Akron. It was also reported that a second man was also in the car, Jeffrey Law II, who was also shot but not fatally wounded.
There was a flashpoint that saw Terry pull a weapon and start to shoot at Kinney, who left the vehicle and tried to return to his own car. He was hit three times by bullets from Terry’s weapon and was found dead in his car by the time police arrived.

Law was struck by a bullet in the arm. Some reports indicate that Kinney tried to drive the car after being shot and crashed it into the porch of a neighborhood house.

What happened to Noah Kinney’s killer?
It seems that the shooting was actually captured on a home security system. Akron Police launched an investigation into the shooting incident. The alleged shooter’s car was eventually found at a garage where repairs on the car were being done on the windows of the car that had been shot out. The father of the shooter had attempted to have the car repaired in an attempt to cover up the event.
He would later plead guilty to an obstruction of justice charge and received a one-year probation for his involvement. A month after the tragic events, Melvin Terry, accompanied by his lawyer, surrendered himself to the police.

He was charged with two counts of murder with firearm specifications, two counts of felony assault with firearm specifications, and tampering with evidence in connection with Noah Kinney’s murder case.
Terry’s lawyer, Walter Madison, would explain that Terry had, in fact, himself been threatened with a weapon during the interaction in the car. He would claim that his client had acted in self-defense, but the jury would not believe the claim, and he was found guilty of murder.
Judge Alison McCarty, who presided over the trial, sentenced Terry to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 18 years.
