Summary
A decent installment tidily progresses the plot.
Bringing us closer to a potential Sin-yu (Rowoon) and Hong-jo (Jo Bo-ah) romance, Destined with You episode 10 was solid in the way it set up how the two would find their way toward each other and issues that could arise. Notably, Sin-yu may now find out that the red hand, which has appeared in his life many times, could well belong to the past life incarnation of his current love interest.
What does Sin-yu do about his feelings for Hong-jo?
After Sin-yu tells Hong-jo to wait for him, things get a tad awkward for the pair when Jae-gyeong is brought up. For the legal advisor humorously worries about the phrase “one-sided love” being used to describe the civil servant’s (past) affection for the man living one floor below her, though such concerns don’t appear to linger.
As Eun-wol seems to encourage Sin-yu to bring up his “vivid” past life memories to Hong-jo, Na-yeon remains adamant she doesn’t intend to leave her partner despite her affair with Hyun-seo.
However, that choice later becomes one she cannot make anyway, as Sin-yu attempts to break things off and admits his feelings for Hong-jo.
At work, though, Na-yeon continues to sit next to her supposed ex at lunch, happy to field questions on how they got together. Concurrently, Sin-yu finds himself bickering with Jae-gyeong over the latter’s liking of Hong-jo and how he is perhaps counting chickens before they hatch.
What does Na-yeon tell Hong-jo?
Next, Na-yeon meets with Hong-jo to tell her she won’t be splitting up with Sin-yu given their wedding date is already set. That, and the civil servant hears plenty of details about her former friend’s relationship, including how she believes the legal advisor will end up staying where he is romantically.
Continuing, Sin-yu starts to give Kim Wook details of his crush until he is interrupted by a phone call from Hong-jo. Yet it’s one only made so the legal advisor can pick up a drunken Na-yeon, and it’s evident here that the civil servant is upset.
Hong-jo and Jae-gyeong
At home, Hong-jo accidentally sprays Jae-gyeong in self-defense, mistaking him for a potential threat. Fortunately, there is no ill-feeling here, though the civil servant does get light-heartedly hoodwinked into being her colleague’s plus-one at the couples gathering he’s attending as a result.
When Hong-jo is quizzed about carpooling with Jae-gyeong, she uses the opportunity to open up to Sin-yu in return. The civil servant outlines her worries about wishing for a couple to break up, feeling jealous, and generally unsure about her feelings “because of the mixed signals.”
This, in turn, makes Sin-yu go in for a kiss, only for it to be disrupted by an arriving Gi-dong.
With the couples’ gathering canceled, Hong-jo and Jae-gyeong go on a car picnic together instead, braving the cold weather to enjoy their time.
It does get serious, however, when the civil servant is confessed to and told not to get “shaken up by Sin-yu.”
How does Na-yeon take action against Hong-jo?
Thanks to Na-yeon’s help with delivering clothing items, Joong-beom looks like he’s setting up another curse for Hong-jo and Sin-yu. Meanwhile, Seo-goo wakes up in Eun-young’s house, and wonders if that means they’re now dating.
The next day, Na-yeon calls in a favor from the Mayor, upset that Sin-yu had been waiting for Hong-jo to come to his office. This involves transferring the civil servant to another branch for “hitting” on the legal advisor, something which infuriates Jae-gyeong.
Pulling Hong-jo away from work (and a meeting with the Mayor), Sin-yu explains himself. First, about a promise he’d made Na-yeon not to publicize their break-up until she was finished at City Hall, and then briefly a word about how the two had apparently cared for each other in their past life.
As Destined with You episode 10 ends, Hong-jo and Sin-yu kiss, but the latter is struck by a reminder of a bloodied red hand when she touches his cheek.
