Chelsea Shipp was a woman in Texas who had a strong social media presence, especially on Instagram and TikTok. In her personal life, she was in a relationship with the then-21-year-old Cody Arnold, another resident of Texas, but she grabbed headlines for the wrong reasons. So, what did she do?
Cody was in another relationship with the underage Katelynn Nicole Stone. This caused arguments between Chelsea and Cody, especially as Cody had allegedly got Katelynn pregnant, which exposed him to statutory rape. In March 2022, Chelsea aimed to “take care of a problem” by allegedly killing Katelynn. Katelynn’s body was found at Cody’s house, where Cody was arrested. Chelsea’s arrest swiftly followed.

Chelsea Shipp is a woman from the state of Texas, USA. She was an active user of both TikTok and Instagram, posting several pictures and videos of herself. One of the more controversial videos that she posted to TikTok saw her react to a trending video of a woman dancing and saying “so what” to a man having a girlfriend. Shipp makes the sound and motion of a gun cocking, and wrote in the caption, “They say that I’m crazy and sometimes I feel like I’m crazy.”
This video was posted about one month before Chelsea was arrested for the murder of Katelynn Nicole Stone.
What did Chelsea Shipp do?
Chelsea was arrested by authorities in Southeast Texas in March 2022 in connection with the murder of 16-year-old Katelynn Nicole Stone, who also lived in Texas. She joined the then-21-year-old Cody Arnold, who had previously been arrested in connection with the murder.
The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office released a copy of the probable cause affidavit, which painted a damning picture of an underage love triangle and even alleged statutory rape. Katelynn was found dead at Cody Arnold’s home in Beaumont after Chelsea’s friend, Brandy Moon, told authorities that Chelsea had confessed to killing Katelynn’, the affidavit alleges.
When the police arrived at Cody’s home, they found Katelynn’s body in a carpeted bedroom. The upper half of the body was wrapped in a bin bag, and the lower half was wrapped in a blanket. There was also a shell casing in view on a pillow. Cody was arrested at the scene.
Brandy described the relationship between Cody and Katelynn as romantic and that despite Katelynn being underage, the pair were a couple. Cody had also said that Katelynn was pregnant despite Katelynn’s age. Brandy said that she later learned that Cody and Chelsea were also in a romantic relationship together

One Saturday, Chelsea asked Brandy if she could swap her white Dodge truck with Brandy’s 2014 blue Nissan Maxima because Chelsea said she “had some business to take care of.” When Chelsea returned the car on the following day, she was on edge and allegedly asked that Brandy cover for her regarding her whereabouts.
Chelsea then admitted to Brandy that she had killed Katelynn. Chelsea made a shooting motion with her fingers and said, “He [Cody] asked me to take care of a problem, and now he has to do what he has to do.”
Brandy said that Chelsea regularly carried a silver gun. Cody told authorities that she owned a .380 and a black 9mm handgun.
Neither Chelsea nor Cody has been convicted of the murder yet.
Why did Chelsea Shipp murder Katelynn Nicole Stone?
The affidavit reads that Chelsea and Cody argued about the fact that Cody was in an underage relationship with Katelynn, possibly exposing Cody to a statutory rape charge. Chelsea’s idea to kill Katelynn was her way of removing the issue.
