Dr. Stone Season 3 Episode 13 Recap

Summary

A surprisingly intense episode that changes the lighthearted trajectory of the season while still maintaining the heart that makes Dr. Stone special.

After a Summer hiatus, Dr. Stone Season 3’s return to Crunchyroll was welcomed by fans eager to see what direction the Treasure Island arc is headed in. With Episode 12 continuing the story right where Part One left off, Episode 13 has the chance to drive the story forward now that Kaseki’s body has been retrieved. Although supplies are limited, his ability to constantly make something from nothing may be one of the most valuable out of all the crew at this moment. Hopefully, with his skills and Senku’s mind, the Kingdom of Science will be able to save the rest of the group sooner rather than later.

This recap contains major spoilers.

Dr. Stone Season 3 Episode 13 Recap

The episode opens with Senku and his friends returning to their hideout to reverse Kaseki’s petrification until they realize he is missing a piece on his back. Although it likely won’t harm him, it could possibly leave a mark like the scars on the faces of Gen and Senku.

After some freediving on Taiju’s part, they are able to find more pieces of their friends, as well as Kaseki’s missing piece, and revive him.

Moz confronts Kohaku and accuses her of being the intruder.

What special weapon does Senku give Ginro and the girls?

In case the Master summons them, Senku creates a special pineapple weapon for Ginro and the girls to use against him. Inside the pineapple is ethyl acetate, normally used to knock out things like bugs. When released near people, it should make them dizzy and confused. Ginro takes it with him when he is summoned by the Master, only to find Ibara.

Kohaku begins fighting with all the guards, but Moz stops her from being killed by the others.

Ginro discovers that the real Master has actually been petrified by Ibara this entire time.

Dr. Stone Season 3 Episode 13 Ending Explained

Moz and Kohaku engage in a one-on-one battle, where he manages to get a hold of her weapon.

Ginro attempts to flee from Ibara before he is murdered, but Ibara manages to stab him from behind just as he calls for help. As he bleeds out, he manages to tell Kohaku the Master is a statue resembling Soyuz.

Kohaku bates the warriors into using the petrification device on her and Ginro in an attempt to save his life.

While there have been some pretty serious battles in Dr. Stone’s history, it’s fairly rare that things get this serious. Not since Tsukasa do I remember an episode getting this serious.

The ending of this episode was not only a huge surprise, but it really turned the tide on the rest of the season. For as lighthearted as Dr. Stone can be, this series also handles battles and drama equally as well.

The pacing and reveals in this episode felt perfectly timed, creating the most shock factor possible while setting up the rest of the season to be something entirely unexpected in the best way possible.
