Elite Season 7 Episode 1 Recap
2

Summary

The Season 7 premiere introduces some new (and old) characters, but it lacks the usual framing device, making the introduction feel slightly aimless.

You’ll notice immediately that “Las Encinas”, Episode 1 of Elite Season 7, doesn’t play out like one of the show’s premieres usually does. There’s no murder to be gradually solved in subsequent episodes. The ending of Season 6 is acknowledged in passing but not really delved into in significant detail, leaving the shooting incident a mystery and the matter of Ivan’s accident almost forgotten about.

This is the season starting as it means to go, introducing new characters we don’t care about, old characters the show doesn’t seem to know what to do with, and languishing in torpid love triangles rather than real drama. This is going to be a long season, folks.

Elite Season 7 Episode 1 Recap

Omar is back – let’s get that out of the way. The premiere actually opens with him talking to his therapist, revealing he’s still haunted by Samuel’s death. But we quickly switch over to the regular ongoings, which include the parents at Las Encinas demanding Didac’s expulsion given his mafia family is likely to have been involved in the shooting.

We’re also introduced to Chloe and Carmen, a mother and daughter who both seem as sexually loose as each other. Chloe has a sex tape floating around school, and Carmen is practically throwing herself at a man who can’t seem to decide between them – less so when Carmen puts Chloe’s school uniform on.

How does Joel enrol at Las Encinas?

Meanwhile, Ivan has finally been discharged from the hospital, and everyone throws him a surprise party. Understandably, Ivan is still concerned about who run him over. Raul attempts to throw suspicion on Patrick, which is the easy option, but Sara continues to feel guilty. However, now more than ever, she’s especially susceptible to Raul’s abusive manipulations.

Ivan is also still missing Patrick. He finds some solace in Joel, a pizza delivery boy who helps him out when he falls over, though when their flirtations go a little too far, Joel backs off. They later clear the air, but sexual tensions are still simmering.

Ivan decides to use his considerable means to help Joel out, which takes the form of a scholarship to less Encinas. Omar, who is seeing Joel, is less than thrilled about this, especially since the school significantly hurt him and his loved ones. They eventually agree that Joel will enroll, but Omar takes an internship there that he earlier rejected, presumably to keep an eye on things.

Who leaked Chloe’s sex tape?

The most interesting thing about Chloe is that she likes to record herself hooking up with random dudes. We see this when she basically forces Eric to sleep with her – not that he needs much persuasion – and records the act for later use without his knowledge. It also seems like Chloe leaked her own sex tapes for attention.

In a conversation with Carmen, Chloe claims that nobody respects them and that they need to play the game that’ll get them things, which goes some way towards explaining her promiscuity. It’s still a little vague, though.

We also learn that Jose Luis, the man Carmen was trying to seduce earlier, is Cruz’s lawyer and that a contract was signed that kept Carmen away from her son – Ivan – if she accepted Cruz’s pension. Without the monetary incentive, there’s nothing to stop her from seeing Ivan.

Elite Season 7 Episode 1 Ending Explained

“Las Encinas” ends with the revelation that Luis, the new academic director at the school, is really an undercover cop investigating Didac and Isa’s respective families. We see him pinning Didac’s photo to his investigation board.
