Summary

The Morning Show is starting to get a little bit repetitive now, with the same meandering storylines. The romances and the many melodramatic subplots appear to be going around in circles. The show manages to keep viewers interested though with further plot twists and an emotive ending.

The overturning of Roe v. Wade is still center stage in “DNF,” Episode 8 of The Morning Show Season 3. The series continues to address these important, historic issues, although the melodrama starts to get rather repetitive in the latest installment, focusing on Paul and Alex’s secret romance which has just gone viral. Meanwhile, Chris’ own controversial post starts to backfire badly.

“DNF” opens with Chris’s dramatic storyline. Her controversial post is all over the news and Chris feels compelled to read through the horrifying online comments whilst on her way to work. As she exits her car and enters the UBA building, Chris is attacked by a protester, who hurls red paint or possibly even blood at the host.

The office is abuzz with gossip. Chris is dominating the headlines with her controversy, but Alex looks set to overtake her co-host any moment now with her own scandal. The photograph of Alex and Paul kissing has also gone viral. The timing is just terrible, as Alex’s exclusive interview with Paul is supposed to be dropping any day now.

Alex wants to concentrate on the SCOTUS news story instead though, ordering Chip to find her a better replacement guest for her Unfiltered show. Chip is struggling to land any important figures in the abortion news story though. Cory thinks the interview with Paul will be a big crowd-pleaser, but Alex wants it pulled entirely.

Meanwhile, Cory and Stella continue their plans to bring down Paul from the inside. Stella thinks that there might be a scandal waiting to be uncovered at Hyperion. She tries to contact Kate, who was just sacked by Paul, but she is ignored. Stella asks Bradley to investigate further in her place.

Chris starts to receive further death threats whilst at work and is given a bodyguard to keep her safe. Chris is frustrated by the escalating situation, but the UBA staff are just as annoyed with her and her naive post. Mia and Yanko in particular are concerned about Chris’ professionalism and knee-jerk reactions.

Is Andre still alive?

Whilst recording a live show, Mia spots Andre on another news program. She is amazed to discover that her lover is alive and well, back in New York City. Mia confronts him that very night. Their conversation ends in an argument. Mia is hurt that Andre wouldn’t contact her. Andre seems to be living recklessly.

Moments before her live interview, Alex’s latest guest pulls out of the program. Chip offers a different interviewee instead, although Alex is under-prepared for this new guest, having focused all of her attention on another one entirely. Alex trusts Chip, but the interview goes terribly anyway.

Why is Chip fired?

Afterward, Alex and Chip argue about this disastrous interview. Chip defends himself and things of course turn rather personal. Out of the blue, Alex fires Chip. It’s a heartbreaking moment for the friends, who have been through so much together. But Alex has had enough of Chip, he has made some big mistakes and questioned her relationship with Paul.

Paul’s day isn’t going any better. He turns up for his photo shoot with Cory late and intoxicated. Paul’s rocket launch has been delayed and Amanda informs him that the firing of Kate might soon become an issue also.

A montage follows, addressing the major subplots in the series. Laura investigates Bradley’s hacked emails and phone conversations. She discovers the cover-up between Bradley, Cory, and Hal over the January 6 Capitol footage.

Bradley meets with Kate for information on Hyperion, but the whistle-blower is a no-show. Chris exercises on a track and injures herself; she isn’t the athlete she used to be. Whilst Cory and Paul argue with one another at the photo shoot. Cory warns Paul that he doesn’t know what he is getting himself into with UBA.

After their public argument, Andre turns up at the UBA offices to apologize to Mia. He regrets what he has said, but Mia is adamant that nothing will change. Regardless of her thoughts, she ditches her work colleagues to spend more quality time with Andre. The UBA staff have all gathered to pay tribute to the deceased host Hannah Shoenfeld. Mia misses this emotional tribute to be with her lover.

Paul’s Plans for UBA

As the episode comes to an end, Paul offers Alex a different future. He suggests that they sell off UBA and start from the ground up on a new network, with Alex running things.

Elsewhere, Paul’s assistant Amanda asks Fred for his help with their plans to sell off UBA.
