The Morning Show Season 3 Episode 9 Recap
“Update Your Priors” kicks off with a conflicted Laura. She doesn’t know whether to expose Bradley’s secrets about the Capitol or not. Laura meets with a colleague to discuss her options. This could be make or break for her career, but she decides to follow the story and betray Bradley in the end.
To test the waters, Laura calls Hal, asking him if his family will join them for the Fourth of July celebrations in DC. Hal agrees but lies about being in DC in recent years. Laura can sense his lies over the phone.
Elsewhere, Alex worries about her and Paul’s plans to sell off UBA for parts. Paul reassures her that this is the best option and that Alex will be making something greater in its place. She can even bring all her old staff along with her.
Stella, Bradley, and Chip continue their mission to bring down Paul with the Hyperion scandal they are trying to uncover. They have contacted all of the company’s disgruntled former employees, but no one is willing to talk and Kate is still ignoring everyone’s calls.
Meanwhile, Cory finds out that a mystery buyer is purchasing a sizable amount of UBA stocks. This looks set to be hugely detrimental to the merger deal. Cory questions Paul, but the billionaire doesn’t seem too fussed by the news.
Why is Paul selling UBA straight away?
Paul is then updated on the financial side of the merger. Amanda informs Paul that if they sell everything off, they could look to be making a $10 billion profit from the sale of UBA. This is great news for Paul, who is desperate for the cash so he can get Hyperion back on track. It looks like he needs the money for his other company.
After an unusual chat with Maggie, Alex feels a need to speak with Bradley, whom she’s been neglecting of late. She offers her co-host a chance to come and work for her when UBA is scrapped. Bradley doesn’t hold back though, stating that she doesn’t trust Paul one bit. She even talks about her concerns with Hyperion.

Alex defends her partner and asks for some serious proof. Their argument ends with Alex storming off though. This spurs her on to go ahead with Paul’s plans. She tells Paul that she is ready to start the new company.
Stella and Bradley take their Hyperion investigation to Cory, hoping that he can delay the vote on the merger. Cory doesn’t seem fussed by the possible scandal though, believing that everything will work out just fine. Stella talks about the issues within Hyperion, but Cory will not change his stance. Stella admits that she will be leaving UBA once the deal has gone through.
Does Bradley tell Laura the truth about the Capitol?
Later in the episode, Laura confronts Bradley about the Capitol cover-up. Bradley is heartbroken that Laura has found out the truth and admits to everything. Laura promises that she won’t be investigating the matter any further, but she doesn’t want anything more to do with Bradley. They then break up.
How does Cory find out about Paul’s plans?
It is revealed that Cybil is the mystery buyer. She hoped that her little stunt would sway the merger vote. Cybil then warns Cory about Paul’s plans. Cory is utterly dumbfounded by the news; he did not have a single inkling about Paul’s plans to sell UBA immediately.
Cory absolutely loses it, stomping around UBA looking for Paul and Alex. He even punches a wall! Cory confronts Alex first, ranting about his beliefs and goals. Alex admirably defends herself, telling Cory that he doesn’t actually care about anyone but himself. She promises to take all of Cory’s staff with her to her new company. After this revelation, Cory phones Leonard to tell him the bad news, hoping to organize an emergency board meeting right away.
Alex informs Paul about Cory, and that he knows their secret plan. Paul then plays his most devilish move yet. He confronts Bradley, a mere 30 seconds before her live show. Paul tells her that he knows all about her Capitol cover-up. Bradley is clearly shaken by the blackmailing accusations; I don’t think she will be continuing her Hyperion investigation any longer now.
The Morning Show Season 3 Episode 9 Ending Explained
The penultimate episode concludes with Bradley delivering her live evening show. She reads her opening monologue, but she is clearly distracted and then dramatically pauses. Bradley thanks her viewers and co-workers and then resigns on live TV.
Stella and Cory race through the building after Bradley, but she refuses to talk. Then Cory is informed that a story has just been released. The article accuses Cory of grooming Bradley and helping her rise to the top at UBA. When she rejected his advances, Cory outed Bradley and Laura to the public.
Cory is shocked once again and then informed that security is coming to escort him out of the building. Cory is certain that Paul is behind this latest scandal.
