Summary
“It’s Been A While” delivers some knock-down-drag-out battles that set the stage for what should be an explosive Part 2 of the second season.
Mark is forced to confront his issues with his father for the first time since leaving in the ending of the Prime Video series Invincible Season 2 Part 1. In Episode 4, Omni-Man needs help, and Mark doesn’t want to provide it, but after a big reveal and the Viltrumites attacking sooner than expected, Mark is thrust into action to save his father and the planet. Steven Yeun delivers a strong performance to cap off a great season as Mark.
Invincible Season 2 Episode 4 Recap
Although Mark wants to punch his father right in the face, he wraps his arms around him and hugs him. Omni-Man hugs him back and says he missed him. Mark can’t believe he would lie to get him back. His father says they need his help, but Mark isn’t interested in giving it.
Who is Oliver Grayson?
A woman walks into the room and welcomes Mark to their home, saying that her husband, Omni-Man, had told her a lot about him. Of course, Mark gets upset because his father just abandoned his mother back home, and before he can storm out, Omni-Man introduces Mark to his new brother, Oliver Grayson. Mark freaks out.
Omni-Man explains that Viltrumites will eventually hunt him down and kill the entire planet, including his brother. He is asking him to help him and protect them from what is coming. Mark isn’t keen on the idea, but in the middle of their talking, the Viltrumites enter the planet to start their attack.
The attack begins, and Omni-Man sends Andressa, Mark, and the baby to hiding while he goes to war. The hiding doesn’t last long as a man arrives to start going to battle with Mark. However, as Mark gets beat up, Omni-Man comes to save his family.
The entire planet of Thraxa is in shambles because of the attack by Viltrumites. Moments after destroying Lucan, Thula and Conquest arrive to battle Mark and Omni-Man. As Thula beats down Mark, his father tells him that he needs to kill her, but Mark says he doesn’t kill.
What happens to Omni-Man?
Because Mark won’t kill Thula, she continues to beat him up and stab him in the stomach. After taking care of Conquest, Omni-Man comes to rescue his son and saves him from dying. Just as he thought he finished the job, Lucan comes in from behind and kicks Omni-Man in the back, knocking him down, and the Viltrumites are able to take him hostage, where he will be executed.
How does Invincible Season 2 Episode 4 end?
A lifeless Mark lying on the ground is approached by General Kregg, who informs him that since he proved himself of his Viltrumite heritage, He he will return to Earth and finish his father’s mission by planning Earth for them to rule. Mark must convince them to follow the rules, or they will kill millions if they arrive and the planet is still defiant of them.
