With the holiday season on the way, streaming platforms are refining their schedules with some feel-good films like Your Christmas or Mine to help spread some good cheer. There is a long tradition of movies that we love to watch over the holidays, and we all have a few that we can’t help put on in the background as we go about whatever festive traditions we enjoy. Cinemas and television also love to show the occasional classic of the season, so we thought you might be interested in a quick look at our recommendations of feel-good films like Your Christmas or Mine to keep the family entertained this season.

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989)

Nothing makes you feel better than watching someone else’s festive plans fall apart, and that’s exactly what happens in this riotous classic starring Chevy Chase. Everything you think will happen does, but it still manages a few moments that will leave you feeling good.

Scrooge (1951)

Ah, Dickens at Christmas, and this is perhaps one of the best adaptations of the classic ghost story. The template for many other books, TV shows, and films, this is the quintessential holiday film, and the ending never leaves a dry eye in the house.

Forget Me Not (2019)

A lost girl trying to get a message to her family meets a homeless man who tries to help her in this little-known but heartwarming short-form film that you could check out in your quest to feel good this holiday season.

Holiday Inn (1942)

Irving Berlin’s classic musical is filled with memorable feel-good moments, and when White Christmas kicks in, you can’t help but smile. Watch in front of an open fire.

Love Actually (2003)

Oh come on, there are moments in this modern classic that still evoke a wonderful melancholy, despite some of the more saccharine and awkward situations. It’s probably of its time now, but for those who remember it at the time, this still has a special place.

The Holiday (2006)

Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz star in this home swap movie, that has a lot in common with the themes of Your Christmas or Mine. Man trouble leads two women to swap homes where they both meet someone new and fall in love.

Elf (2003)

Will Ferrell and James Cann star in this holiday classic that follows elf Buddy on a quest from the North Pole to New York City to meet his biological father. Genuinely funny and made with heart, this will always leave you with a smile on your face.

A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)

Probably the best of all the Charlie Brown animated features, this holiday animated classic has one of the greatest jazz soundtracks ever, and Charlie’s heartfelt anti-corporate stance is just what we need at this time of year.

Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara are exceptional in this tale of Santa Claus, but is he crazy, or the real deal? An often overlooked feel-good movie that was so good they remade it with Richard Attenborough in 1994.

It’s A Wonderful Life (1946)

A play on A Christmas Carol, this should probably be mandatory viewing over the holidays. Darker than you think it is, and with a final act that nails the landing every time, this is a festive feel-good classic. “Every time you hear a bell ring an angel gets his wings!”
