Apple TV+ has confirmed The Buccaneers Season 2 in a surprisingly quick renewal. The impressive first outing of the Bridgerton-esque period drama has captured the imaginations of fans and there was no way a streaming network was going to let that kind of attention and word-of-mouth go to waste.
Plot-wise, Nan St. George has found the love of her life — well, possibly two loves of her life, and as she attempts to figure out which man she wants, the world as she knows it crumbles when a huge secret is revealed, turning her life upside down. The Season 1 finale left many storylines unresolved, and there is plenty for a second season to unpack.
Has The Buccaneers been renewed for Season 2?
Official Renewal Status: Renewed
The Buccaneers has been renewed for Season 2.
In a statement, creator Katherine Jakeways said the following:
“It’s been a complete thrill to watch people all over the world fall in love with these characters, who’ve been brought to such vibrant life by our spectacular cast. We know season one left audiences desperate to know what’s next for our buccaneers, so I’m absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to explore the further adventures of this smart, joyful, messy sisterhood.”
How has The Buccaneers Season 1 performed?
With the weekly rollout of the series, you can capture more information regarding these renewals because the audiences are quicker to share their thoughts. On Rotten Tomatoes, the show is sitting on a 96% audience aggregate with a little over 500 ratings. That is a fantastic number for the series, and Apple TV+ has to be happy with it.
Critics typically don’t seem quite as impressed, but it’s sitting at a very good 78% from 37 reviews, with only eight giving the series a Rotten score. For me, I gave the series a 3 out of 5 rating, and as the season progressed, I am more in line with a 4 out of 5 than I am with my earlier score.
Fans on X, formerly Twitter, have also made their thoughts on a potential renewal very clear:
i’m gonna need more people to watch #thebuccaneers because i will NEED a season 2 — the cast is so much fun, it’s filling a bridgerton hole in my heart, plus we have a queer storyline involving mia threapleton (kate winslet’s daughter) and josie totah pic.twitter.com/wDmFOy6aQd

IDK if anyone is looking for a show, but I just finished Season 1 of #TheBuccaneers & really enjoyed it! It is set around the same time period as #TheGildedAge but it’s kind of a spin on how American women were perceived in Europe. It’s fun-a little dark. Hoping for Season 2!

What is The Buccaneers about?
As a group of American women set off to England to chase down the husband of their dreams, they don’t realize that the culture clashes, the men and their families aren’t all that they’re cracked up to be. There is plenty of drama throughout the season, but is it good enough to warrant a second?
The Buccaneers follows the story of American women sent to London to secure husbands and titles. Throughout the series, we watch women battle over the men in hopes that they can secure the man of their dreams.
Throughout the journey on the show, we follow several main characters named Nan St. George, Jinny St. George, Guy Thwarte, and Conchita Closson.
With Nan, she finds herself in love with two men, but all of it is threatened when a secret about her childhood is revealed, causing mass chaos among the families. Her sister Jinny finds the man of her dreams in Lord Seadown, or so she thinks. As Jinny peels back the layers of Lord Seadown, she realizes she might’ve made a mistake. As for Conchita, her American background causes much trouble adapting to the English culture she married into.
These love stories are intertwined as each of these women are friends, leading to much laughter, drama, and affairs.
