Summary
The dynamic between Max Burkholder and Seth MacFarlane as John and Ted makes for a hilarious finale that is the best episode of the season.
The ending of Ted Season 1 hinges on John losing his virginity. After sex ed class, John realizes he might be the only virgin left in his class. With sex on the brain, John and Ted set out in Episode 7, the finale of the Peacock series, to get John laid for the first time. However, after a wild chain of events, John finds himself embarrassed in front of the whole school to impress a girl.
After finding out he might be the last virgin in school, John attempts to figure out who he can lose his virginity to. Ted attempts to talk Blaire into letting one of her friends help, but she says no. Later that night, Blaire tells Matty and Susan that it might be time for them to have the “sex talk” with John.
Susan sits down with John to talk about her first time. She goes into detail about how she and Matty were about to have sex when a news bulletin popped up on the TV that “Nixon had resigned.” She tried to get him back in bed, but he was so upset that he couldn’t do it.
Ted is heading to buy drugs, and John runs into Bethany, who talks about how awful the sex education class is. In typical John fashion, he takes the conversation overboard and scares Bethany away.
How does John impress Bethany?
Ted gets the drugs and heads to talk to John, but a strange man runs by and takes the drugs from them. John chases the man down, tackling him and getting their drugs back. Bethany was watching in the distance and was impressed by what he did. So, she asks him out on a date.
Although he struggled with what to do on the date with Bethany, Ted promised John he would take care of the night. The two have an Aladdin night, where Ted drives while the couple dresses up like Aladdin and Jasmin and ride on top of the car on a rug. While the two muck it up over their love for Flash Gordon, Ted sees a squirrel in the road and slams on the breaks, throwing the two from the roof.
What does Bethany ask John to take her to?
While the night ended a little bumpy, Bethany asked John to attend the junior prom with her. However, when talking on the phone with her, Ted was making noises in the background to make it sound like other girls were in the picture, and it turned Bethany off, so she didn’t want to go to the prom with him anymore.
Matty talks John into going to the prom even after Ted messed everything up. At the dance, John confronts Bethany about what happened. He told her that he was lying to try to impress her. She asks how she knows she can believe him, leading to him grabbing a mic in front of the whole school.
How does Ted Season 1 end? Does John lose his virginity?
John grabs the mic and announces he is a virgin in front of everyone. Everyone mocked him, but Bethany came after him, saying she was a virgin, too. Bethany invited him back to her house because her parents weren’t home.
The two agree that they will have sex, but as they begin to get hot and heavy, breaking news comes across announcing that O.J. Simpson is on the run from the police. Similar to his mother’s first time (except she had sex), Bethany was completely distraught by the breaking news, and the two never ended up having sex.
The season ends with John heading home to talk to Ted about the night and how disappointing it was, but he mentions they will have an even better senior year together.
