Summary
Griselda continues to be an exciting and highly entertaining crime drama series. There is humor and a real, addictive energy to proceedings in these early installments, which makes the episodes fly by. Episode 2 is well-edited and once again builds tension and potential through its expertly written script.
In Episode 2 of Netflix’s crime drama series Griselda Season 1, the titular character starts to build her drug empire, recruiting more dealers and sweet-talking a potential supplier at the same time. Griselda aims to target the “Rich White People” of America, as the episode title suggests, but Alberto’s brother Fernando wants her dead and begins his private investigation, looking for the drug lord and sweet revenge.
Fernando sends Dario to search Griselda’s house for clues. He wants her found and then killed in retaliation for the murder of Alberto, his brother. Dario then investigates the old brothel where Griselda once worked. He discovers that Griselda has poached some of the prostitutes from the brothel, asking them to work for her in Miami.
These ladies are seen exiting Miami airport, where Griselda greets her new employees. They are joined by Griselda’s old friends Isabel and Arturo. The girls have transported cocaine over to the States in their bras. It tallies up to a suitcase full of drugs, 10 kilos of coke in total, worth $250k.
Griselda is hopeful that she can move that amount every month, which would equal $3 million a year. She thanks Arturo for helping with this first shipment. He warns her that Fernando is looking for her though.
Who is Papo Mejia?
Arturo and Griselda meet with Amilcar to formulate a deal. Amilcar has played Griselda though. He used this transaction to sweeten a deal with his supplier, the Colombian drug trafficker, Papo Mejia, who is furious that someone else, especially a housewife, is stepping on his turf. Amilcar offers Griselda a measly $5k per kilo, which Griselda rightfully refuses. He then threatens to have her blacklisted by the whole drugs community. No one will buy her cocaine.
Meanwhile, the police investigate the shooting from Episode 1. Wannabe detective June Hawkins helps translate an interview with a key witness. The witness saw Griselda entering the building. June is interested in pursuing this lead, but the other detectives aren’t interested in a female drug dealer.
Who does Griselda want to sell her drugs to in Miami?
Frustrated by the lack of action, Isabel suggests they go partying. Griselda and Isabel then party with the rich white folk of Miami. This gives Griselda a bright idea — she decides to target this untapped market instead. And she wants the Colombian, German Panesso, to be her supplier.
Amilcar is updated on Griselda’s plans. She aims to give away free coke to win over new clients. Amilcar isn’t fazed by her plans, but Papo is starting to get a little concerned himself. He agrees to sort this problem out once and for all, he wants her dead.
Next, Griselda pitches to German Panesso. He isn’t won over by Griselda’s plans, although he agrees to watch more of her sales pitch at the subsequent party. Griselda organizes an extravagant boat party, where the rich folk are given free drugs. Arturo manages to sell 3 kilos with ease, but German Panesso is still not convinced.
To make matters worse, Papo shows up, firing his gun into the air. He then threatens all of Griselda’s guests, promising to hurt anyone who buys from her. Griselda stands up for herself and tries to coax Papo into leaving. Papo grabs Griselda by the hair instead and shoves a gun in her stomach.
Who is Griselda’s new partner?
Here, German Panesso steps up to the plate. He orders Papo to leave, threatening him at gunpoint, and informs the dealer that he is Griselda’s new partner. He was impressed with Griselda’s fighting spirit and now sees the potential in the operation. The guests boo Papo and throw glasses at him until he leaves. German Panesso then accepts Griselda’s offer of 100 kilos a week.
The girls and Griselda all celebrate their victory after the party has ended. Isabel promises to return in two weeks with more drugs. Griselda even manages to talk Carmen into supplying them all with plane tickets in the meantime.
How does Griselda Season 1 Episode 2 end?
The episode ends with Griselda returning to the motel after her hectic night. She finds Fernando and Dario in her sons’ suite. Fernando informs the children that Griselda killed Alberto. He’s then just about to kill Griselda in front of her kids, but she persuades him to take her next door instead.
Who kills Fernando?
The children listen as Griselda is attacked in the next room. Fernando begins to strangle Griselda to death. The children fight back though and one child pulls a gun on Fernando. Dario is able to disarm the son. Fernando orders Dario to then kill him, but Dario shoots Fernando dead instead.
Griselda thanks Dario for saving her life and sparing her children. Dario admits that he just couldn’t kill a child. He hands Griselda her wedding ring back, which he nabbed from her home in Colombia. Griselda throws the ring into the empty motel swimming pool below. She then asks Dario to help with the disposing of Fernando’s body.
