Summary

Back-to-back episodes that felt more like building for what’s ahead led to The Silent Service Season One – The Battle of Toyko Bay falling short, but there’s still plenty of excitement for the final two episodes.

Captain Kaieda is prepared to enter Toyko Bay in Episode 6 of The Silent Service Season One – The Battle of Toyko Bay. Kaieda calls the Prime Minister with one mission in mind, and that is to make a deal with Japan for an alliance. As they schedule a meeting, the Prime Minister finds himself in an interesting predicament on whether or not they should honor the deal or continue to work with the US.

Kaieda informs Captain Ryan that they are about to enter Toyko Bay and that he can get off the ship. Captain Ryan asks him if he is forming a military alliance with Japan, and he says he is. He explains that he plans to merge Yamato and Japan into one united nation. Over the intercom, he thanks everyone for what they have contributed so far and says that there will be more to come.

What does Captain Kaieda offer the Prime Minister?

Upon returning from Japan, the Prime Minister’s staff says that Shiro Kaieda has reached out to speak to him. He tells the Prime Minster he would like to offer an alliance and wants to meet with them to discuss it further. He confirms that they DO NOT have nuclear bombs on the Seabat and asks them to take him for his word.

What does the Prime Minister tell the press about Seabat?

The Prime Minister is set to hold a press conference, and news reporter Hiromi Ichiya arrives to take notes. He begins the press conference by announcing the truth about the Seabat and how it was a joint effort with the US to construct the nuclear submarine. The media begins to freak out, but the Prime Minister continues by outing Shiro Kaieda, saying he went rogue, taking the name Independent Nation of Yamato.

Hiromi Ichiya asks if Shiro Kaieda, who died in the Yamanami incident, is the same. He says yes. Amid the press conference, he announces that Kaieda has opened the door to negotiation and will meet at noon tomorrow at the Press Club Center. The Prime Minister confirms that Kaieda said there is no nuclear weapon on board the Seabat and will allow him to enter Toyko Bay.

Fukamachi and his team on board the Tatsunami discuss their plan as the Seabat heads into Toyko Bay. They know they must protect everyone, and there will be potential combat.

Ahead of the meeting with Yamato and Shiro Kaieda, the Prime Minister gets a phone call from President Bennett, who asks if he plans to become allies with Yamato and Kaieda. He responds in the affirmative. The President offers him one last opportunity to change his mind, yet the Prime Minister is not budging. When he pressures him by saying that the US would attack Japan, the President hangs up on him. The episode ends with Shiro Kaieda meeting with the Prime Minister, preparing for the negotiation.
