The third and final season of Good Morning, Veronica plays out almost like the origin story of a new vigilante, with Veronica delving into the deepest bowels of the Order of Faith and the mysterious Doum and not liking what she finds. The ending of Season 3 reinforces this notion with the formation of an all-star avenging angels tag team dedicated to taking down the worst of the worst who traffic in women and children — and doing it outside the law.

Episode 3 comes after a flurry of revelations about the identity of Doum — the charismatic rich rancher, Jeronimo — and even Veronica herself, intimately tied as she is to the sadistic network of traffickers she’s presently investigating.

Out of the frying pan, into the fire

Veronica avoids being killed by Diana by using a discussion between Diana and Jeronimo as an opportunity to flee. Diana is worried that Veronica is coming between her and Jeronimo but, given the familial relationship, he’s insistent that she’s simply the perfect person to carry on the project. He assures Diana that nothing will change between them.

Veronica’s newfound freedom is short-lived. She finds a grave with “Girl” and Matias’s bodies in it and then legs it to the house, where she finds proof that Lila has been impregnated. Jeronimo turns up with Lila in tow and threatens to kill her if Veronica doesn’t surrender herself. She has no choice but to be taken captive once again.

How does Veronica escape captivity?

With the help of a woman named Lais whom she befriends in the stables, Veronica is able to escape. Lais, who is allowed to move around the place with a certain degree of trust, poisons all the guards with nightshade leaves. Once they’re out for the count, she frees Veronica and the other women. Veronica calls Prata and sets about arming the other women.

How do Jeronimo and Diana die?

Thankfully, both villains of the piece meet their end in the final episode. After Gisele arrives looking for Angela, Diana takes her to the stables and is stunned to see them empty. Gisele pulls a gun, Diana a knife, and after a struggle both are left on the floor, grievously wounded.

Meanwhile, Veronica leads a charge on Jeronimo with the other women. After retrieving a gun from Diana, Jeronimo tries to turn it on Veronica, but she shoots him dead. Seeing this, Diana commits suicide by shooting herself. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

How does Good Morning, Veronica Season 3 end?

The third and final season of Good Morning, Veronica ends with Veronica’s name cleared — however, she has no intention of returning to the police. Instead, she and the other women plan to take down all the people Jeronimo was associated with, putting an end to the depraved and widespread operation once and for all.

Is this a happy ending? Well, sort of. There are other things that happen that would also constitute a decently positive outcome, but only in the context of these awful circumstances. Lila is going to get an abortion, for instance, which isn’t necessarily something to celebrate but certainly feels like a relief nonetheless.
