Summary
After weeks of anticipation, the Red Dragon fight does not disappoint. The storytelling and animation combine to deliver what is easily the best episode of the season.
After days of traveling and prepping, Laios’ party finally made it to the fifth floor to face the dreaded Red Dragon in Delicious in Dungeon Episode 11. Despite a well-thought-out plan utilizing the natural architecture of the Orcs Village, there’s no telling if it’ll be enough to save Falin—if she’s even still alive, that is. This is easily the best episode of Season 1 thus far and ends on the biggest cliffhanger yet.
The episode opens with Marcille prepping a trap that will drop a building on the Red Dragon. Laios then makes enough noise to grab the Red Dragon’s attention, leading it toward the trap.
Although his goal is to force the dragon to use up all of its stored fuel, they struggle to block the firey blasts and lead the dragon to Marcille too early. She sets off her trap, but it does little to hinder the dragon, who escapes the rubble and immediately attacks them.
While hiding under the Red Dragon, Laios thinks he may be able to reach its inverse scale and kill it. However, his sword, Kensuke, begins to shake before propelling itself from his arms just before the dragon attacks.
When they run out of all other weapons, Senshi reveals that his kitchen knife is a one-of-a-kind weapon made from a special metal called Mithril. He says it’s strong enough to pierce any monster’s skin and even cut through bone.
Although the knife isn’t big enough to kill the dragon, it buys Senshi time to create a distraction. He runs off to grab Laios’ sword but ends up trapped under the Dragon’s claw.
Despite not wanting to fight, Chilchuck saves Senshi by stabbing the dragon in the eye. They then throw Kensuke to Laios before being covered in falling rubble. With his sword in hand, Laios runs off to form a new plan with Marcille that involves getting him onto the dragon’s head.
How does Laios kill the Red Dragon?
Once on top of its head, Laios kills the Red Dragon by stabbing its inverse scale while dangling upside down from its mouth. Although he is successful, Laios loses his leg in the process.
Marcille wakes Laios up and then locates Chilchuck and Senshi. She heals them both before finding Laios’ leg to reattach.
Laios begins cutting open the dragon’s middle to find Falin.
How does Delicious in Dungeon Season 1 Episode 11 end?
When they do not find Falin in the Red Dragon’s stomach, Laios checks the intestines and finds nothing there either. They attempt to sift through the semi-digested bones and remains inside the dragon to see if they can find traces of Falin among the monster. In the process, they find her hair and staff.
Laios then finds a human skull.
Since day one, Delicious in Dungeon has been leading up to this fight, and it was worth it. Easily the best episode of the season thus far, it delivered on all the excitement it had promised.
While there was plenty of action and even a few unexpected twists, one thing that stood out was the animation of this episode. The art has always been attractive, but Episode 11’s detailed expressions and vivid colors elevated the drama and added to the overall viewing experience.
After ending on the biggest cliffhanger of the series so far, the next episode can’t come soon enough.
