Summary
A successful, long-awaited introduction to the real Falin that also seems to introduce a new, ominous tone to the series.
Whether or not Falin really stood a chance inside the dragon’s stomach, Laios’ party was still devastated to find what they could only assume were her remains. If she is still alive, chances are we’ll see some sort of evidence in Episode 12 of Delicious in Dungeon. However, even though souls are stuck with their bodies in the dungeon, there’s no guarantee that Falin can be revived even with the strongest magic spells.
The episode starts with Senshi wondering if Falin can be revived despite being digested. Laios begins attempting to gather her bones to take her to the Resurrection Office. However, Marcille advises against this, afraid that moving Falin’s body too much will disrupt its already weak connection to her soul. She suggests bringing a specialist to them instead.
While figuring out the best way to revive Falin, Marcille reveals that she secretly specializes in Ancient Magic, such as Black Magic, which is frowned upon in their society. Laios agrees to have Falin attempt to resurrect Falin using dragon meat. The males then begin separating Falin’s bones from those of the Wargs the Red Dragon also consumed.
Is Marcille able to resurrect Falin?
Using forbidden magic, Marcille is able to successfully resurrect Falin. She awakens a bit disoriented but is physically okay.
With Falin revived, the group takes a moment to bathe and prepare its next meal. Falin tells Marcille that she knows something about how she was resurrected and the magic circle left behind. Marcille assures her it’ll be fine if they erase the circle.
Now that their mission is complete, the next step is to return to the surface, but without magic, they will have to return on foot. Realizing they haven’t seen Senshi for some time, they try to find him, only to realize he is about to start cooking a meal near the dragon’s corpse.
Afraid that lighting a fire will ignore the gas Laios released from the dragon’s body, they attempt to stop him but are too late. Part of the dragon’s body explodes; however, instead of dying, they are saved by Falin’s defensive magic.
Senshi manages to salvage enough dragon meat to make stew and pizza. As Falin learns how hard the group has been struggling for money for food, she finds herself intrigued by all of the different monsters they’ve eaten. Laios takes this time to finally introduce Kensuke to the group as well.
How does Delicious in Dungeon Season 1 Episode 12 end?
Laios’ party decides to spend the night in the abandoned house they’ve found. As they get ready, Laios notices Falin talking to one of the “residents,” although there seems to be no one there.
Back at the resurrection site, an elf seems to stumble upon Marcille’s resurrection circle.
Final Thoughts
There was definitely something a bit different about Episode 12 of Delicious in Dungeon. While still good quality-wise, the overall tone felt different, as if something terrible could happen at any moment. It was very different from the vibe of the first half of the season but not at all unwelcome.
If anything, it feels as though the series is just getting started all over again, and I am excited to see where this tonal shift takes us, especially with Falin’s newfound presence stirring the pot.
