Summary
After such a strong episode, 3 Body Problem falls back into Purgatory. It’s a slow episode that doesn’t develop much and feels like filler.
The world is in shambles over the San-ti alerting the world they are coming in Episode 6 of 3 Body Problem. Wade is trying to build a super team of experts to help figure out a way to take the San-ti out now instead of waiting around for them to attack in 400 years. Jin attempts to talk Auggie into working with her for Wade, but Auggie is stubborn because of her hate of Wade. Season 1 takes another downturn.
3 Body Problem Season 1 Episode 6 Recap
The world is under duress as countries riot in the streets in favor of the San-ti. Although it will be over 400 years before they arrive, people are causing a stir by saying, “We Are Not Bugs.”
Jin confronts Dr. Wejie about why she killed her friends. Dr. Wejie said when her father was murdered, she saw a sign that said, “Forge the New World.” Dr. Wejie said she doesn’t believe the San-ti will protect her or anyone who supports the Lord because of their understanding they can’t trust them.
Wade and his team have taken up residence at Wychwood Manor, where they will begin working on defending the world against the San-ti. He says the San-ti is real, and he plans to fight back. Wade plans to launch a probe to intercept the enemy fleet. Jin and Wade sit down to discuss their plan to take out the Sophon.
What is the plan to take out the San-ti?
An idea is pitched to borrow an old idea from Stanislav Ullam from the 1940s called “Nuclear Pulse Propulsion” — q series of 1,000 nuclear devices evenly spaced in the distance stretching from Earth to the San-ti fleet. The bomb can be put in place using the existing spacecraft. As the Probe passes each, the bomb will explode, using a stairs-like system to reach the fleet.
Commander Varma storms into Wade’s office, demanding he add him to his space team. Wade gives him the run around about there not being one, but Varma says he has known for two weeks. So Wade decides to give Varma a job, but he will be on the moon, where they plan to build a space station to prepare for the fight with San-ti.
Jin finally confronts Will about why he never told her about his cancer. She said it wouldn’t have been fair to her if he would’ve just died, and she wouldn’t have known. After she leaves, Saul attempts to talk Will into going to the city and telling Jin about his feelings. Finally, after Auggie’s assistance, Saul talks Will into heading into the city to talk to Jin.
How does 3 Body Problem Season 1 Episode 6 end?
Regardless of how many times they try, Da Shi cannot get Dr. Wenjie to talk about anything. Because they don’t have anything on her, Da Shi makes the call that she is to be released from prison. He tells one of his detectives that she is free to go wherever she likes but wants a report on what she is doing every four hours.
Dr. Wenjie is released from prison, and we see the man following her. She boards the train and goes home to talk to the San-ti. She pleads for them to speak to her and says she has an idea or two that can help them later on down the road.
