Bandidos has made a mark with its first season, doing very well in many territories on Netflix and appearing in the top ten all across the globe. With this kind of performance, Season 2 of the action-adventure, which stars Ester Expósito, Juan Pablo Medina, and Alfonso Dosal, is something the streaming platform will be strongly considering, though there’s no official word on a renewal just yet.
Bandidos Renewal Status for Season 2
At the time of writing, Bandidos has not been renewed for Season 2. However, with the show dropping on March 13th, 2024, it is still early days, and there is every chance that a second season may be greenlit. In the meantime, it will be a waiting game until there is an official announcement.
Shows such as this require a large budget and a lot of post-production and location work (it was filmed in Mexico), so financially there is a lot to consider before greenlighting another season. The sad truth, as I am sure you know, is that it will all come down to the financial ramifications of producing another season and how well the show performs overall, especially over time.
What could Season 2 be about?
There is no information about a plot for the possible second season, however, if we take a look at the closing scenes from the first run, we at least get a clue as to what might be next on Lili and Miguel’s schedule.
The pair briefly discuss a hunt for the Tear of Fire treasure, so the Season 1 ending does hint that further adventures are afoot. A second run for the show would also no doubt explore and expand on the main characters, though keeping the regular cast in place is a concern, as fans often invest in a show through those playing the parts, meaning that the production team needs to act fast to keep the leads on board.
I would probably also expect the show to introduce us to some new additions to the cast and the story would likely move locations and explore some exciting new territory. Often the second season of a show will go out of its way to bring bigger and more spectacular set-pieces to the screen, so another run would no doubt see a production team familiar with the series hitting the ground running and ready to show what else they can do.
Critical and Audience Response
There have been some mixed reviews for the show so far. Our review was lukewarm, and LeisureByte tends to agree, calling the show “a good one-time watch”. Meanwhile, Decider encourages you to stream it but also admits that you will probably forget about it after it’s finished.
IMDb has the show rated as 6.5/10 with some reviewers rating it very highly, and others calling it “an Indiana Jones wannabe” and “silly and trite.”
Meaww, though, really enjoyed the series and praises the performances and cinematography, concluding that Bandidos is a “must-watch”.
