Jennifer Pan plotted to kill both of her parents and while she succeeded in having her mother executed, her father survived. Huei Hann was not the only survivor, however — Jennifer’s brother Felix Pan was not at the family home in Markham, Ontario, Canada that night, so he survived the attack. Though, like his father, he continues to live an incredibly private life totally removed from the heinous incident chronicled in Netflix’s documentary film, What Jennifer Did.
Felix Pan Moved To Remove Association With Sister Jennifer
The Toronto Sun reports that Jennifer’s brother Felix, who was not at the house when the attacks happened, “was oblivious to the string of lies and deception his beloved sister strung to her family — until after she was charged with hiring armed thugs to kill their parents.”
As the terrible truths surrounding the case were explored, Jennifer Pan and her boyfriend Daniel Wong were arrested and eventually found guilty of first-degree murder. The authorities investigating the case would find evidence that supported the allegations that Jennifer, with help from Daniel, had hired men to stage the home invasion, and murder her parents.
Jennifer’s strict upbringing had seen her fabricate a web of lies about her education, with her lying about attending university, graduating, and finding work. Her parents would eventually discover that she had been lying for years about her life, and her relationship with Daniel, and would become even stricter about her activities, forbidding her to see Daniel again.
Jennifer would be enraged by the situation, and after reconciling with her estranged partner, Daniel, it was alleged she would formulate the plan to have her parents murdered.
What did the trial reveal about Jennifer Pan’s brother?
Felix was called to appear at the trial of his sister and had to answer questions about her.
Defense lawyer Laurence Cohen would ask him, “She was your sister … you loved her, you respected her?” Felix would respond that he did, but it was noted that he would not look toward his sister during the interactions.
Felix appeared to not know about his sister’s activities and knew nothing of her lies and deception regarding her education and relationships. When asked about his father he said, “Dad was old school … He was very controlling, it’s just the way my dad is … It’s sort of like tough love.”
What does Felix Pan do for work?
Little is known about Felix, and since the terrible case, his whereabouts are unknown, though it appears he continues to live and work in Canada.
Felix was also influenced by the rigid standards of his father, and he was sent to a private school and encouraged to study as hard as possible and strive for a good job and a secure future. He is on record as having said that the murders would follow him for the rest of his life, but hopefully, they didn’t hinder his ability to create a life for himself.
