The Jurassic World animated series, which started with Camp Cretaceous, never fails to surprise me. Maybe I should accept that this series is legitimately good, as it shows no sign of slowing down.
I am going to say this: Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 2, Episode 10, “Reunion,” is the best this series has to offer so far. It’s also the best ending (so far). I know I am getting ahead of myself, but I do wonder if this can be beaten. It brings the horror aspect of Jurassic World while also maintaining the family series feel.
Here’s my breakdown of the key events of the second season finale.
The End of Lab Facility in Senegal
Episode 9 brought a shocking moment for Kenji; he learned that Brooklynn, the woman he loves, is alive while navigating the lab facility in Senegal. Understandably, in Episode 10, he is angry, upset, and confused—he aims his emotions at Ben, who knew Brooklynn was alive but did not tell him.
But there’s no time for debate in “Reunion.” The Nublar Six now know that Soyona Santos is the Broker behind the illegal dinosaur trading, and they need to ensure the safety of Geba and the eggs.
Soyona Santos wants to destroy the lab facility so no evidence of her cloning plan is left behind. However, she is soon stopped by Dr. Sarr, who is surprisingly still alive, and he sets his Leucistic Baryonyx after her and Brooklynn.
Santos distracts the Leucistic Baryonyx with a Raptor, but it’s soon over under the cloned dinosaur’s command. Unfortunately for Dr. Sarr, his time is up, as the two dinosaurs eat him alive.
The group eventually finds Kenji and Ben. Santos turns off the facility’s lights so the Leucistic Baryonyx can heighten its senses and kill anyone remaining in the lab.
The group navigates the facility in darkness but encounters the Leucistic Baryonyx. Luckily, they find Geba, who helps fend off the dinosaurs.
Season 2, Episode 10, then reaches a pivotal point; Brooklynn is conflicted as she wants to help her friends, but she has a bigger mission ahead of her. When Santos leaves the facility, Brooklynn stays behind for a moment and sets off the fire alarm to confuse the senses of the Leucistic Baryonyx. This helps her friends find a way out of the facility without being threatened by the dinosaur.
Soyona Santos then blows up the facility, ending this phase of the story. I must admit that I like how Brooklynn is a conflicted character for her friends and the audience. When Season 1 ended, I assumed that Brooklynn would eventually resume the status quo, but the ending of Season 2 says otherwise.
Brooklynn As A Hard Decision To Make At The End Of Chaos Theory Season 2
The writers’ wise move of making Brooklynn a complicated character gives the story another edge.
With the facility blown up, Zayna rings her father, who arrives to support her, while Brooklyn drives away with Soyona Santos to get to the private plane. It’s an emotional goodbye between the Nublar Six and Zayna, with whom they’ve bonded. Let’s hope this character returns in the future.
As season 2 nears its end, Santos reveals to Brooklynn that she is partnering with Biosyn, the largest dinosaur genetic company in the world.
Kenji finally catches up with Brooklynn, who is about to board Santos’ private plane. She has a choice: get on the plane with the story’s villain and cause further confusion, or stay behind with her friends.
She chooses to get on the plane and tells her friends that she is not the same Brooklyn they knew.
Before getting on the plane, she gives Ben Bumpy’s egg. When she boards, she tells Santos that they will not bother anymore.
What a cliffhanger! Season 2 delivers horror, action, and a fantastic twist at the end. I expected Chaos Theory to end with Brooklynn returning to the Nublar Six, her Camp Fam, but the writers have made her into an unexpected and different character.
