WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS

Virgin River Season 6, Episode 9 starts with emotionally stressful circumstances. It’s the early morning of the wedding, and Mel, Jack, and Doc are performing CPR on Everett following his heart attack in Episode 8’s finale. It doesn’t seem to be working, but the three all keep their cool despite how personally close they are to the situation.

Everett’s pulse faintly returns, so he and Mel fly to the hospital. Welcome to the end game of Virgin River Season 6!

A seamless transition brings us to a sweet and sentimental moment between Doc and Mel. Doc proceeds to tell and comfort Mel about how he knows Everett will overcome this heart attack. He confides in her the context of their tension throughout the season while telling her she is now a reason for Everett to pull through.

Everett pulls through and wakes up. During Mel’s visit to Everett, he shares with her a vision he had while he was out. He reencounters Sarah. In this vision, this encounter, he tells Sarah that he wants to stay with her. However, Sarah responds that her daughter cannot lose her dad on her wedding day.

Mel tells Everett that they are postponing the wedding. Everett retorts, “So I came back from the dead for nothing!” He explains that Mel can’t delay her wedding because of him.

THE WEDDING

THE WEDDING’S BACK ON. Hope instructs the whole town to plan and set up the event.

Everett calls for Doc. He has a couple of essential questions he needs to ask: First and foremost, “Will you walk Mel down the aisle for me?” Second, he wants to gift Mel his finished song and asks Doc to retrieve it from his home for her.

As the day progresses, Mel struggles with the pressure. Jack intuitively catches on to her anxiety but continues to follow her lead. It’s time for the ladies to prepare Mel for her wedding while all the guests arrive for the ceremony.

Mel asks Joey to go and get Jack for her as her wedding nerves seemingly increase. She explains to Jack that she feels like the luckiest girl to marry him, but she is currently a million miles away.

And so they jump on Sugar’s back and ride away, leaving the wedding ceremony and the guests panicking.

ALL THE SMALL THINGS

As the season progressed, some of the sideline stories became just as big as the main story of Jack and Mel.

I’ll start with a more minor plot point, at which point we finally get answers. In this episode, Cameron confesses that she left Muriel because she didn’t want kids. Cameron is happy back home with his family, and Muriel happily dates her new man. It’s a boring end to a long-awaited answer, but who am I to judge?

Closely behind Muriel and Cameron are Lizzy and Denny. During the wedding, a young child asks Lizzy, “How can you be pregnant if you’re not married yet?” This leads to Lizzy, stubbly but manipulatively saying to Denny, “Apparently, you should marry me.” So, where will this leave the couple?

But Brie, Brady, Lark, and Mike are by far the biggest storylines alongside Mel and Jack.

Brady shows up at the wedding with Lark. Brie is NOT impressed. She had hope in her heart that they had split up after Lark’s dishonesty and plot to steal his money. However, Brady decides to play a survival game by taking her back.

And THIS is exactly what she tells Brie at the wedding. Again, Brady confesses to Brie that she is the love of his life, that everything he knows about love is because of her, and that he will never be able to love anyone remotely close to how he loves her. He admits that he needs to move on because she is still with Mike despite still being in love with Brady.

The most heartbreaking part of all of this? Lark hears everything Brady expresses to Brie. So, no, this isn’t going to end well, folks.

I must praise Virgin River. Despite this being a semi-boring season, it still keeps me wanting the answers despite knowing they’ll be pretty unexciting.
