The worst thing that ever happened to Watson was Brilliant Minds. Both shows are similar enough that the comparisons are unavoidable; medical procedurals with a focus on very strange, often brain-related cases of the week.

Brilliant Minds has always been good, and sometimes it has been very good, but in Season 2, it really might be at its peak.

The clue is in the name, sometimes. Even if you didn’t know that HBO’s The Chair Company comes from I Think You Should Leave’s Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin, the simple fact that it’s called The Chair Company should be a bit of a giveaway that it’s slightly off-kilter as far as comedies go.

People die. This is true in real life and even truer in television shows, since drama needs conflict, and conflict is invariably kicked off and concluded with violence.

While not quite the standout that the wide-scale defence of Solaz and Daryl’s solo train side quest were, Episode 6 still feels like Season 3 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon operating at a pretty high standard.

If there’s a better show in 2025 than Task, I’d be interested to see it. You can always rely on HBO to just ride into town and drop extremely high-quality prestige TV on a semi-regular basis, to an extent that it almost feels unfair to other networks and platforms.

Sorry, but what is going on here? The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon returned for Season 3 with seemingly no idea what it was doing, and then it just got inexplicably good without warning, and continues that trend in Episode 5, “Limbo”.

You can tell we’re getting to the end of The Rainmaker now, since there’s a real fist-pump quality to Episode 8 as the tables finally begin to meaningfully turn.
