Summary
“Heavy Heart” is an important chapter showing the emotional effects an abortion can have on a couple.
The Letdown Season 2, Episode 4, sees Audrey taking that leap and flying to Adelaide in a chapter that sees the married couple being the only focus point. Like all plane journeys, The Letdown articulates how awkward they are, with rude people in attendance ruining the trip.
Initially, Audrey finds it difficult to embrace Adelaide but once she understands how cost-effective the area is and the value of housing, she has a spring in her step. But Jeremy is more concerned with relaxing, and then the next day he decides to take her outside of Adelaide for a wine tasting day.
Let’s be honest about wine tasting, it’s a load of s***. I’m assuming most people try and taste it properly but then by midday they are getting dizzy eyes in the glares of the sun. And that’s what happens in “Heavy Heart”, Audrey gets absolutely wasted and is almost inaudible.
And the day gets much more interesting when Jeremy makes a romantic speech and proposes to her. She rejects the proposal drunkenly, stating they’ve never believed in marriage. It’s very awkward, and in the next wine tasting place, Audrey starts publicly announcing their abortion, accusing Jeremy of not understanding how she feels. What she did not expect was that Jeremy felt the exact same way, questioning if there was regret. What follows is a heart-to-heart.
Season 2, Episode 4 ends with Audrey throwing up and passing out, but the couple also had a better understanding of their feelings.
