Induced paranoia, a deepening mystery — Goliath Season 3 is back to what the series is all about in Episode 3, “Good Morning, Central Valley”.

In the opening, we are delightfully provided with a scene where Patty (Nina Arianda) goes on a Morning News Show to discuss the suit against the corporate farmers over the water. In true Patty style, she nervously looks into the camera and swears. Meanwhile, Billy has breakfast with JT about the NDAs that need signing and how it will be challenging to acquire them.

Diana Blackwood is already laying down her resistance, speaking to Patty about the lawsuit and how she has no involvement and directs it at her brother Wade.

And trouble continues to deepen in the county — James finds out Dolores, who provided him with crucial information, no longer works at Tall Grass Farms. Something has happened to her, and it has spooked him.

It’s time to get the case running, so Billy and Patty run a county meeting — there are a lot of disgruntled farmers who attend, and then one woman stands up and claims they will have to sue their bosses. That woman is the Counsel from the Blackwood Water Board, and works with the one, the only, Donald Cooperman — Wade has hired an enemy of Billy.

I can’t believe Donald is back. This is going to be good.

In a shock turnaround in Episode 3, Gene tells Billy that he does not want to be part of the action suit, and has an outburst, claiming Bobby would have been alive if Billy took the case before she died. It looks like Diana got to Gene when she went to his house earlier in the chapter.

And there are more casualties in Episode 3. Roy threatens Diana, claiming he will go to Billy for legal help. Later on, at the casino, Roy consumes drugs in the usual place with Wade, and he drops dead and has a heart attack. Diana claims she had no part of it when Wade confronts her all upset. They decide to go for a walk — I’m telling you, these two have some weird relationship.

Episode 3 also gives us some war talk — Billy speaks to Wade about Cooperman. Wade offers to end this as he’s tired, but Billy claims he isn’t. Billy is never tired.

Goliath Season 3, Episode 3, “Good Morning, Central Valley” ends with JT telling Billy about Dolores and that he has to leave the county. Earlier, Diana’s son asks him to move his motor home. He thinks whatever is happening is dangerous, and sends a warning shot to Billy. When Billy returns to his hotel room, he finds Janet there, the woman he saved in the previous season, and she thanks him for allowing her to stay at his place. She asks Billy why he did not get the better room like last time, and that they had a party here before. Billy has no recollection of this town and looks concerned. I genuinely believe our lead character is losing it.

Drunken, Scrawly Notes

  • Rita claims the Casino Manager is dodgy and warns Billy.
  • Roy threatens Diana, claiming he will go to Billy.
