Summary
Goliath Season 3, Episode 5, “Argus 2: Battledome” sees Billy experiencing a U-turn in court and the Blackwoods turn up the heat against the pending case.

Billy (Billy Bob Thornton) is having a tough time with this case with the Blackwoods playing all the tricks in their strange books. At the start of Episode 5, “Argus 2: Battledome”, Wade speaks to Stephanie after she completes a stunt. Wade tells her about Roy’s will — how she has all of it — and offers to buy the land from her. When Diana approaches her moments later, she is understandably frustrated and increases her leverage.
Before Billy goes to court, Karen makes him breakfast and forces him to consume orange juice. What happens next is a car crash in court. Billy starts seeing things and acts odd. He sees crows, Donald and Bobby. Meanwhile, Patty is called to the witness stand and is accused of solicitation. Billy finally finds a percentage of sanity within his trippy, hallucinating world and stops the judge from reporting them to the bar — he offers to do the case for free in response to seeing Bobby, and how she wanted to just help people.
With Diana keen to get that land, Anton confronts Stephanie — what follows is an altercation where both of them end up in a fight and chasing each other across dusty lands on bikes. Anton seriously hurts himself, and his brother is curious about what is going on with their mother. Cracks are appearing in the Blackwoods family.
Billy’s hallucinations finally wear off, and he knows now that he has been in this place before. He approaches the Casino Manager Littlecrow about his laced breakfast and does his signature “lawyer-type” threat. Billy is on to them.
Patty decides to speak to Diana in Episode 5, “Argus 2: Battledome” about her plaintiffs, Violet and Gloria, getting fired. Diana explains that it was nothing personal, just business with the class action against them. Diana tries bribing Patty with information, stating she has found out who Patty’s birth mother is.
The Blackwoods break even more over family dinner, and Wade and Diana scream at each other about Stephanie’s land and their true intentions — it seems the case against them is taking a toll. After dinner, Diana punishes her sons, in a weird scene where one is punished while the other watches.
Goliath Season 3, Episode 5, “Argus 2: Battledome” ends with Billy approaching Spencer from the party he cannot remember — Karen gave Billy Spencer’s contact details. Billy asks Spencer about the Big Sir Agreement and explains to him that it’s all going to come crashing down when the courts realize that he signed off the privatization of a public resource. Spencer quickly goes very pale as Billy says, “I’ll hear from you”. Spencer immediately rings Wade and asks if they are in trouble. Donald Cooperman answers, and Marisol is sat right next to him.
It’s going to get ugly.
