It’s taken a while but Episode 8 finally presents a curveball for this likeable group.
“Mama Bear” sees Jules (Kat Dennings) attend a Woöm’s company retreat, hosted by a professional spiritual leader, kookily played by guest star Margot Robbie, who gets a few minutes screen time. It’s no surprise she has instilled herself into Dollface, considering she is one of the executive producers. The retreat is rather strange, quirky and extravagant, which is hardly surprising from this Hulu series.
The retreat takes a dark turn when Jules’ boss mentions Colin, and lo and behold he turns up and gives her a cheeky kiss. Jules hides away behind a fridge door while Colin confidently talks to Jules’ boss like he is in a natural relationship with her. Jules is now in a terrible position — should she tell Madison?
Stella is also on the rocks in Episode 8 after finding out she did not get into her backup business school. She gets crazily drunk and starts heckling the other students; luckily Jules and Madison save her from too much embarrassment.
Back to the main story; with Jules seeing Colin’s true colors, she feels rather queasy and wonders if she is pregnant. Jules takes a pregnancy test and realizes she isn’t pregnant but acts weird in front of Madison. She tells Madison the opposite to avoid telling her the truth and pretends to be pregnant, for a few scenes, Madison believes her best friend is having a baby. Eventually, Madison realizes that the pregnancy test said the opposite and forces the truth from Jules.
Dollface Season 1, Episode 8, “Mama Bear” ends with Madison finding out the truth about Colin, but she refuses to believe it and instead takes it out on Jules.
