How does When My Love Blooms episode 3 begin?
We’ve been waiting desperately to understand the aftermath of the events of the last episode.
Seo Gyeong demands to know what the situation as Han Jae Hyun stands there with Yoo Ji Soon. She asks why he’s acting all affectionate. Han Jae Hyun explains he knows Yoo Ji Soo from when he was a College Junior and if she doesn’t cancel the hearing Se Hwi won’t ever work as a model again. Han Jae Hyun heads outside and says the hearing won’t take place and offers to give Yoo Ji Soo a ride home but she refuses. One of her heels breaks and Han Jae Hyun doesn’t give up and she finally gets in. When he drops her off he gives her shoes.
This was way less dramatic than envisioned.
What happened in December 1993?
We learn more about their college junior love.
Young Han Jae Hyun tells Yoo Ji Soo to follow his footsteps in the snow as they head to a band night. Later Han Jae Hyun is very drunk. He sleepily rests his head on her shoulder and she smiles.
One of her friends is frustrated by her obsession with Han Jae Hyun but he’s clearly jealous.
How does the conversation between Seo Gyeong and Han Jae Hyun go in the present day?
Seo Gyeong tells Han Jae Hyun to pay more attention to Jun Seo. They have a conversation about the model Se Hwi. She admits when he was in prison, she felt lonely which started an affair. Han Hae Hyun admits partial blame and he seems very non-emotional about it.
His focus seems to be only Yoo Ji Soo.
Do Han Jae Hyun and Yoo Ji Soo keep bumping into each other?
That seems to be the theme.
While at the same bar he hears the piano again and approaches the pianist. Outside in the rain, he sees Yoo Ji Soo making calls for piano lessons. He asks her to stay and wait for his car. Han Jae Hyun gives her an umbrella so she can walk home without getting wet.
At the school, Han Jae Hyun asks Yeong Min if Jun Seo is still tormenting him. Yoo Ji Soo is alarmed at them both talking.
Later, Yeong Min tells his mother that Jun Seo’s father is very different from his son. He says he’s a bit envious of Han Jae Hyun.
Yoo Ji Soo tells Yeong Min she wishes he had worries that match his age. Yeong Min gets upset, saying his mother does everything alone and he’s worried about his father taking him away. She jokingly implies she is as strong as Black Widow and Captain Marvel.
This scene evidences how much of an emotional and financial toll they are under.
What’s happening with the protests?
When My Love Blooms episode 3 sees the chairman demand that Han Jae Hyun cleans up the protestors urgently and asks why he’s meeting the Bank of Seoul. This forces Han Jae Hyun’s hand.
Han Jae Hyun and Yoo Ji Soo meet for a coffee.
He lets her know that he’s the Vice President of Hyung Sung Mart and he knows she was dismissed from the company and hopes she doesn’t protest. He expands and says the company didn’t violate any laws and he’ll look for another job for her. Han Jae Hyun then points out that raising Yeong Min will be more important.
Yoo Ji Soo senses that he’s looked into her background and that he’s a different person. Han Jae Hyun admits to being selfish and shallow.
This scene was quite a personality shift for Han Jae Hyun.
What do the flashbacks reveal?
When younger, Han Jae Hyun and Yoo Ji Soo participate in a protest that turns violent. She asks why he protests and he explains he wants to fight for losing teams.
In the present day, she repeats the sentiments of fighting for those who lose at the coffee house — “I may have never won, but I’ve never been ashamed”.
Those were cold words.
In another flashback, Han Jae Hyun warms up Yoo Ji Soo’s hands in the snow. Yoo Ji Soo says she will fight with him for what he believes. In the present day, Yoo Ji Soo realizes he was fighting for her belief, not his. Han Jae Hyun states her belief doesn’t exist anymore.
How does When My Love Blooms episode 3 end?
Seo Gyeong learns that Yoo Ji Soo is one of the protestors and rings the chairman.
The next day, Han Jae Hyun asks the company to cancel the riot police. The chairman ignores the orders.
Yoo Ji Soo sees the riot police dispersing the protestors and she looks at Han Jae Hyun across the road with disappointment. Yoo Ji Soo runs into the crowd to prove she still fights for the losing side.
Han Jae Hyun looks on in dismay and clenches his fist. This scene will likely change him for good. That’s what episode 3 suggests.
