Summary
“My Love” continues to ride on the generic wave but gives a good lesson for creatives; be careful who you sign up with.

The opening
“My Love” opens up with the revelation that AB has had a baby with Vangie. He hasn’t got used to having a child yet. He’s also nervous about demonstrating English songs to the record label — they need hits. The family plays the English songs to the label; however, Jose tells them they can’t all go on the album apart from the one song. The family compromise on this but “My Love” shows how much a label can assert control.
Taking back control
Abraham gets frustrated when Jose recommends getting a Grammy-winning producer on the album. They have a private meeting and agree that AB remains the producer. The band is worried that they will slowly lose creative control the longer they work with the label.
Focus
AB argues with Selena about her focus on her looks rather than the demos. He tells her it has to be great as he’s worried this might be his last album. When the pair stops arguing, AB has an idea for a record and gets straight back to work.
Wardrobe problems
Selena and Suzette spend time making their own clothes in “My Love”; from dresses to sequin jackets. When they get to their cover prep, the designers tell her they cannot wear the clothes they made. The scene feels deflating, but Selena seems to come to terms with it slowly. At the shoot, Abraham doesn’t like the look of the set.
Do a reshoot!
When Selena and the band get their costumes on, Selena doesn’t feel like herself. Abraham doesn’t like the appearance either. The photographer tells Abraham to give them room to work.
An angry Abraham confronts Jose about the shoot and asks for a reshoot. Jose tells him that it’s all about promotion. Jose agrees to a reshoot but that it will change the release date. It almost sounded like a threat; while this series is not groundbreaking in imagination, it does demonstrate what artists go through when they sign a contract.
Next time they need more control
At a party at the label, a woman loves Selena’s jacket which she made for herself. She asks if she can make her one. Ironically, the woman didn’t recognize her because of the album cover. Meanwhile, Abraham tells Jose that on the next album, they need more control.
The ending
Abraham tells the family that they have made good sales on the album but that they need to work extra hard on the next one. They watch one of their performances on TV and celebrate how far they’ve come. As the episode ends, the guitarist that AB wants comes to the house; Selena is very attracted to him.
