The One season 1, episode 7 recap
2

Summary

The One creeps towards the finale, but it’s unlikely even an impactful ending can salvage a show that seemed to have run its course several episodes prior.

This recap of The One season 1, episode 7 contains spoilers.

The news of Fabio’s death is out and about in The One episode 7, which opens with Rebecca speaking to Matheus about the matter. If I were to make a list of relationships that probably won’t work out, this one would be at the top of it. Then again, though, there’s stiff competition from Kate and Sophia – the latter has discharged herself from the hospital and disappeared. Luckily – for us, at least – Kate has other business to attend to.

That business includes Matheus, since she wants to know why he and Fabio were in London. He’s tight-lipped enough to arouse suspicion, leading Kate to schlep around and spot him with Rebecca from afar. They drive off together, Rebecca explaining she’s being blamed for Ben’s murder, and Kate starts digging into Fabio’s phone records.

It isn’t just Rebecca with an interest in Kate, but Sebastian, since we’re still doing that whole thing. He tries to do the whole “I really like you” routine, but it falls on deaf ears since, you know, they’ve only just met, and even then through a woman who was ostensibly the object of Kate’s affections despite, again, them barely knowing one another. Finally, in The One episode 7, Sophia confesses that it was her who caused the accident that took the life of her mother – was it worth the wait?

Meanwhile, in The One season 1, episode 7, Mark continues to be an idiot, trying to commit to Hannah (and sleeping with her) before trying to get rid of Megan (and sleeping with her). This guy really wants to have his cake and eat it, doesn’t he? It’s a relatable problem, of course, but is it worthy of inclusion in an eight-episode thriller? You tell me.

Perhaps now’s a good time to bring up that this season really should have had six episodes – even the main plot at this point is beginning to repeat itself and linger over things we already know the answer to. Once Kate realizes that Rebecca has been fronting all this time, their encounter seems to tee up a more conclusive one in the finale. We can only hope.
