Episode 7 has a couple of plot turns as it is all about trust and love.
It’s Benji’s birthday, so Victor is super excited about it. He’s made plans, including bringing the champagne. Benji’s mother walks in and secretly asks Victor to join a dinner at a fancy restaurant for her son’s birthday.
Afterward, Victor learns that his mother Isabel is going to a support group to make her understand him more, and he appreciates it.
Felix is still down
Felix is feeling betrayed by Lake. Meanwhile, Lake is trying to find a way to remind Felix that she loves him. The social worker rings Felix and tells him that his mother will be held for a further 14 days.
Birthday meal
Victor learns about a big part of Benji’s life in episode 7 in a surprising revelation.
Victor turns up at Benji’s birthday meal with the family, and Benji doesn’t seem happy that he’s turned up. At the dinner table, Victor learns that Benji is sober after quitting alcohol for a year. His mother congratulates him on his sobriety. Victor had no idea his boyfriend was attending AA meetings. Benji walks away frustrated.
Benji apologizes for not telling him and says he fakes drinking alcohol. Victor is irked that he didn’t tell him and wants Benji to be open with him. Benji doesn’t like the lack of understanding and tells Victor he’s put up with his s**t, including the pressures that he’s just come out as gay. He feels he’s been patient and understanding. The two characters are at a crossroads at this stage.
Mia questions if Lake is doing the right thing
Lake has found out about a deep-sea expedition at an aquarium, which she thinks Felix will love to go to. Mia asks her if she’s making the right moves and wonders if Felix needs space as he has a good reason to be upset. Lake is offended, stating that Felix’s mother needs help, and she walks out, believing she doesn’t have her friend’s support.
Armando wants to see other people
When Isabel attends the support group, she sees Armando being friendly with another woman, so she walks out. Later on, Isabel confronts Armando about the woman. He explains that when they briefly separated, they both agreed to find out what they wanted. He admits he does want to see other people. Does this mean open marriage for the couple?
Felix breaks up with Lake
And then the episode presents heartbreak for Lake — incredibly, this relationship has broken down already.
Felix meets up with Lake at the aquarium. Lake reminds him about the start of their relationship at the aquarium, and she wants a new start. She explains she just wanted to take his pain away. Felix understands, but he raises how he trusted her — he states he isn’t happy with her now, and he breaks up with her.
Afterward, Pilar finds Felix in his apartment to see if he’s okay. Felix tells her he’s not a good “hang” at the moment, but Pilar isn’t bothered; she wants to be around him. So they watch Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? together.
As for Lake, she speaks to Mia and admits she was right. Mia comforts her heartbroken friend.
The ending of Love, Victor season 2, episode 7
Benji visits Victor at his apartment — he admits he was embarrassed and wanted the AA meetings separate from his relationship, but he wants Victor to be part of his life. The couple hooks up.
When Isabel returns home, she finds Victor and Benji naked together. Awkward!
