Lucifer season 6, episode 9 recap
In prison, a lion becomes loose. The reason for it? The same reason that the world is ending. Lucifer’s siblings are answering people’s prayers. What could make Amenadiel even angrier? Learning that Lucifer doesn’t want to be God, of course! In the prison, Dan visits his killer, Vincent (Rob Benedict), in the hopes that he can help understand why he can’t get into heaven. But instead, Dan witnesses Vincent escape prison. (All thanks to that meddling lion).
It’s the 4th of August, aka, the day that Lucifer will disappear. With Chloe pregnant, it might really be happening. Fate’s a bitch. Not one to worry, Lucifer asks Linda if she knows how much he values her as a person. He tells her that she is one of the most wonderful friends that a devil could have. Meanwhile; Amenadiel asks Chloe for a favour, he asks if she could persuade Lucifer to become God. She finds it strange that Amenadiel didn’t want to become God. But as he wants to live on Earth with his child, Chloe suggests that he could rule from Earth. He asks her to be God point person in the LAPD. But Amenadiel will think it through first. What do you think? Would Amenadiel make a better god than Lucifer?
After Ella takes down her wall of weird map, Lucifer apologies for not telling her sooner. He hands Ella a gift; it’s a pencil. But written on the side of the pencil is a foundation. Lucifer has opened up a foundation in Ella’s name. As Dan stalks Vincent, he tries to stop him from killing a sales assistant. But when Dan tries to grab the gun, he ends up in control of Vincent’s body.
Amenadiel suggests that he becomes God, to which Lucifer responds by telling him that he’s his favourite brother. Next, Lucifer visits Maze, and after hugging her (something he’s never done before), she gives him one of her blades. Is Lucifer really preparing himself for goodbye? Finding Vincent/Dan, Lucifer learns it’s Dan after he hears “Bracelet brothers”. But Lucifer is unable to help Dan leave Vincent’s body.
Dan/Vincent visits Trixie and hugs her. “Stranger Danger”! And Trixie kicks his arse. But Dan is finally able to say goodbye and apologizes that he never managed to be a good role model to Trixie. Good news! Dan goes into heaven! Bad news, Vincent is back in control of his body.
The ending
With the 4th of August coming to a close, Lucifer and Chloe get into the panic room (or feeling totally fine room) and dance until midnight. But then Lucifer gets a call from Vincent. He has Rory, and he wants Lucifer to meet him at the 10th and Swanson.
