You season 3, episode 5 recap
During couples therapy, Love claims that she and Joe are now a normal boring family, which brings them to the decision of ending counseling. But not before Love says she feels pressure from being the only one with friends. Back home, Joe and Love attempt sex, which then brings back the saying, “I wolf you”.
To please Love and make friends, Joe goes on a hunting trip with Cary. Whilst Sherry, clearly still bitter that Theo called her out, proceeds to badmouth Theo to Love, revealing that he has DUIs, turned up drunk to school, and that it’s only a matter of time before he winds up dead in a ditch. After Joe learns that Love has been paying for Theo’s Ubers, Love gets forced into telling Joe that Theo kissed her, although she brushes it off as a teenage crush.
During the hunting trip, Cary pushes Joe too far, and as a result, Joe throws him off a cliff. But Cary isn’t dead; “I’m impossible to kill,” Cary claims before declaring Joe as “one fine specimen of a man”. Meanwhile, Love berates Theo for his DUI, only to learn that he wasn’t driving a car but an electric scooter. So Theo takes her on one, and after the crash, they end up having sex. Unbeknown to Love, Dottie is attempting to FaceTime her.
The ending
When Love returns home, Dottie reveals that she missed Henry’s first steps. Had she answered FaceTime, she would have seen. Having seen Theo step out of the car with Love, Dottie tells Love not to allow Theo to distract her. Joe returns from the hunting trip, armed with hunting equipment from Cary and Sherry as a gift. Joe now accepts that he and Love must work together so that they can be there for Henry. Having said that, Joe uses a “fault” with the alarm system at the bakery so that he spy on Marieanne.
