After Amazon decided to release the first four episodes, we are now on a weekly format, which will navigate audiences to the ultimate twist (we hope). Episode 5 sees our characters fretting — they are desperate to find out the murderer.
I Know What You Did Last Summer season 1, episode 5 recap
Episode 5 opens with Margot eating while recording herself — it’s a lot of sweet stuff, and it is disgusting to watch. Tears roll down her cheek as she stuffs in the last marshmallow. She’s abusing herself. Soon after, episode 5 flits to a town meeting where the police and Bruce try and calm everyone down after recent events.
We are then treated to a flashback to the fatal graduation night; Bruce tells Lennon to have a good time, but she does not want to be there. In the present, Bruce tells Allison to be careful with Margot as she was very close to Lennon, and she’s worried she may figure out who she is.
Dylan explores the cave near the sea, but he’s soon spooked by Clara, who tells him there will be no redemption in this life. After being creeped out, Dylan meets Bruce — he hugs the man tight and tells him that he misses Allison.
Desperate for answers, Allison researches Fred Phillips, but Dylan turns up and tells Allison that he thinks Clara is the killer. Allison asks her father about Clara, highlighting how she was at the funeral and references her cult family.
The police tell Bruce and Allison that the real Allison had an OnlyFans account and wonder if it could be linked to the murders. Unfortunately, Allison and Bruce do not have access to the account.
The ending
As we reach near the end, the group of teens investigates Clara’s estate. Half of the estate looks abandoned. As they snoop around, Margot tells Riley that Lennon is being “sus.” Also, Dylan tells Riley that they are “just different, ” which she does not receive well.
Dylan and Margot find some deadly spiders as the episode tries to instill some horror. The group of teens then hear Clara return, so there’s a sense of panic. Dylan and Riley realize that Lennon is left behind, so Dylan goes back in to help her. Dylan finds her, but then Clara releases the dogs after them. Dylan tells Lennon to run as he distracts Clara, who wields a shotgun.
As the episode reaches near the end, flashbacks reveal that Bruce left Lennon on the side of the road after an argument — this was moments before her friends accidentally ran her over.
The episodes end with a revelation that someone else has been attacked on Clara’s estate, but who? It’s looking likely to be Clara.
