In my brutally honest opinion, this is the show that Hanna aimed to be. Everything about the show was solid gold. Maggie Q is exceptional in her role as Nikita, the former assassin who wants revenge on the agency that recruited her. The Season 2 finale is one to be remembered.
Alias
Much like Hanna, it features a kick-ass female lead that desperately wants to take down a corrupt agency. With twists and turns at every corner, Alias is one of the best shows ever created.
Tehran
One of the hidden treasures from Apple TV+. Tehran follows a Mossad agent who is on a mission to deactivate a nuclear reactor. But along the way, she rediscovers her roots. Tehran is tremendous at highlighting the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel. P.S Glenn Close will be starring in the upcoming second season!!
Fringe
Like Alias, the show got created by JJ Abrams. Whilst not a rating success, Fringe has a heavy cult following. With a deep focus on the sci-fi genre, Fringe features a weird mix of drama in its five-season run.
The OA
Chances are, you’re already aware of this Netflix show. Even more likely, you’re aware of the cliffhanger ending after Netflix canceled it. Regardless, The OA was a fun watch and if you haven’t watched it yet, you should!
Revenge
Unlike many of the other entries on this list, The ABC show Revenge is in no way linked to the spy genre. Instead, Revenge is a thrilling serial drama. Sexy, juicy, and twisty, the rivalry between the two female leads makes this one of the most entertaining watches on this list.
Covert Affairs
Another spy show! Not as dark as the other shows listed, so, is somewhat of a light-hearted watch in comparison. Plus, “Precious” from Friends is among the original set of main characters, so keep a lookout for her!
Treadstone
Although there is only one season of Treadstone, the Jason Bourne-based series has plenty of action. Whilst the show doesn’t get a proper conclusion, instead, it leaves us with a cliffhanger; Treadstone is still well worth a watch.
Alex Rider
Much like Hanna, the lead of Alex Rider is a teenager. In this case, Alex gets recruited by the MI6 to spy on a correction academy for the wealthy.
Condor
Somewhat of an underrated show, given that there’s little to no publicity around it. Based on the novel Six Days of the Condor, the lead character, Joe Turner, uncovers a plan that could cost the lives of millions.
