Emily in Paris season 2, episode 3 recap

As episode 3 opens, Emily receives a package for her birthday. Mindy wants to celebrate and have a dinner party for her. Mindy is super excited and starts thinking of venues. Gabriel intervenes and tells Emily that he will bake her a cake. Mindy feels awkward and leaves them to talk. Gabriel is wondering why Mathieu wasn’t in St. Tropez with her; Emily explains how Mathieu overheard their conversation and that from now on, it’s all focus on clients. Yeah…when does that ever work…

Mindy wonders why Emily invited Gabriel to the dinner party. Emily explains that she wants to bring Gabriel and Camille together.

At work, Sylvie explains that Pierre is no longer her client account, and it will be under Julien. She’s furious and Emily and Julien argue about it, but Luc attempts to die down tensions.

Before the dinner party, Emily enjoys a steam room with Camille and Camille’s friends. The conversation of Gabriel comes up and they believe Camille is being stubborn. Emily insists there isn’t anyone else. Camille believed the “someone else” is the restaurant. It’s a very awkward conversation for Emily. After steaming it up, Emily tells Camille that she’s invited Gabriel to the dinner party so they can make amends. Afterward, Camille confronts Mathieu about standing Emily up in St. Tropez and forcing her off the client account. Mathieu explains that isn’t the case and that he found out Emily was having an affair.

Gabriel learns about the food that Emily will be serving at the dinner party and he cannot accept it. So he takes her to the markets for better ingredients. It then ironically rains, so they have to run for cover. While both wet, Gabriel says, “love at first sight” and strokes her hair. Emily becomes nervous so heads back home.

The ending

The dinner party arrives, and Gabriel and Camille turn up. Sylvie tells Emily that Pierre will be doing the brand new luggage line; an idea by Emily.

Camille and Gabriel appear to be making up, and Emily is delighted. Later in the night, Camille speaks to Emily about Mathieu’s claims that she’s having an affair, but the cake comes out before they can talk about it. And then, Camille remembers the champagne, so she heads to Emily’s apartment to get it; she sees the omelette pan again, and things are starting to add up in her head as she inspects closer — she knows it’s Gabriel’s plan; she knows about Emily and Gabriel. Oh, dear!

Camille heads downstairs, and as she does, she sees Gabriel wiping chocolate off Emily’s face. But she acts normal as Emily makes a toast. Camille then makes a toast to Emily; she shockingly reveals that Emily had an affair with her boyfriend, Gabriel. She throws her glass on the floor and walks off.

Emily chases after Camille and tries to calm her down, but unfortunately, her face says everything — she admits she slept with Gabriel. It’s getting juicy!

Episode 3 represents a much-needed turning point, spicing up the second season.
