Emily in Paris season 2, episode 7 recap

Episode 7 shows that Paris is experiencing hot, HOT temperatures. Mindy and Emily are struggling without air conditioning. In the office, there’s no air conditioning either. Americans are not used to the European way. However, there’s good news — they are launching Pelotech in Paris. There’s always some love news. There’s romance for Mindy — she kisses Benoit while they enjoy a picnic.

Emily seems to have convinced Alfie that she’s worth being around; they meet up for a coffee. The teacher makes an example out of Alfie at the French language class and asks him to write on the board. Emily defends him and states that Alfie is doing his best. The teacher compliments Emily on her improvement in her french.

Alfie tells Emily he has air conditioning in his apartment and asks her to come back to his to “cool down.” Alfie talks about his monotonous life and tells Emily that marketing is a fantastic job. Their conversation quickly turns intimate, and they hook up and have sex. The following day, Alfie asks for a kiss goodbye.

As she returns home in Alfie’s blazer, she has a glow about her. Gabriel asks where she’s been, which is awkward. When Emily gets to work she’s a little irked that Alfie isn’t messaging her back. She rings him and leaves a voicemail. She confides with Julien who believes that the man she slept with is not into her.

Mindy checks Emily’s phone and sees she has texted him many times and wonder if she has been ghosted.

The ending

But then Emily receives a message from Gabriel — an “Englishman is waiting for her at his restaurant,” so she heads over. Of course, it’s Alfie. When she gets there, Alfie and Gabriel watch football together and seem friendly. Alfie tells her he lost his phone and had no way of contacting her. He asks for his phone back as it’s in the suit jacket she wore. Gabriel adds it up in his head and realizes she slept with Alfie. Gabriel believes Alfie is the reason they can’t be together. Emily lies and tells Gabriel that Alfie is why they couldn’t be together. He admits it hurts, but she can tell she likes him.

Gabriel’s face says it all; he feels he has lost his chance with Emily.

Episode 7 has plenty of potential, but it feels a little lackluster.
