Summary
With Yasper dancing and singing through his recollection of the night that Xavier died, episode 3 of The Afterparty is a great one. Although; it still isn’t clear who could be to blame, there’s likely plenty of shocks on their way.
This recap of Apple TV+ series The Afterparty season 1, episode 3, “Yasper,” contains spoilers.
After Aniq compares Yasper’s handwriting to that of the individual who wrote the note, he rules out Yasper as being the killer. And in even better news, Yasper knows about the hidden camera. But it may prove to be useless as Detective Culp accidentally deletes all of the footage.
The Afterparty season 1, episode 3 recap
As for the next interview, it’s Yasper’s turn. In the interview, we learn that Yasper wants to do a track with Xavier as they’re “bonded by the beat”. After Yasper’s neat performance of “One Shot, Twice”, The Afterparty goes back to the aftermath of the afterparty and Aniq interrupts Jennifer #1 meditating to get her spelling of Diarrhea. Shortly afterwards, he has Ned spell out the word, seemingly ruling both of them out of the running. As for Zoe, she doesn’t write the word, yet.
Back to Yasper’s recollection of the night, and he wants Xavier to bless his track. “Yeah, sure, whatever” is Xavier’s response. But it’s still enough to make Yasper burst into song again. After the performance, Yasper finds Chelsea, who is heavily drunk, and they head to the afterparty.
Back to the present time of The Afterparty, Walt takes part in the diarrhea game, and after Aniq shares his “killer theory” with Zoe, she also plays the game. But Walt then speculates whether Zoe changed her writing after Aniq told her about the backward “E” theory. When The Afterparty moves back to the night of Xavier’s death, Yasper finally receives a message from Xavier; he has a track ready. And as a result, Yasper motivates Chelsea to chase after her goals.
The ending
As Yasper samples the track, Xavier is with Chelsea. After Yasper puts his track on all the screens around the penthouse, he goes downstairs just as Aniq wakes up, and Xavier is found dead. And like that, Yasper’s interview is over. As the episode comes to a close, Chelsea is the last to play the diarrhea game. Or so Aniq thinks. Jennifer #2 hasn’t played; she’s missing. And now Chelsea’s drink container has been found near Xavier’s body.
As for who killed Xavier, I’m still going to go with Zoe. But with the next episode seemingly lined up to follow Chelsea, who knows what could be in store?
